McCain: The real plan?

Posted on 06/08/2007 10:36:22 AM PDT by Scarchin

I was a passionate McCainiac in 1999/2000. (Now, however, he is one of my most disliked politicians.) The man I met then is not the man running today. On radio and TV he appears resigned and tired - but also very calm. Too calm. I also have to wonder why a Republican would buddy up with Teddy Kennedy during a close primary.

Here is my theory and I would like to read Freeper thoughts.

I think McCain has already decided on a third party run. There is a fairly well-organized group of moderates called UNITY 08 that would snatch McCain up in a heartbeat.

Thoughts?

You were passionate about a man that destroyed data on our POWs?

What third party? The Constitution Party wouldn't’t have him. Libertarian? Not a chance.

McCain can’t raise enough dough for a third party run.

Don’t forget about bloomberg, he and McCain could be in the same boat. They are both RINO’s? what about a joint ticket?

I think it would, counter-intuitive as it is, help the Republican candidate. McCain would appeal to the Dem leaning independents more than the Republican leaning independents, and not at all to most registered Republicans while he would appeal to the more conservative voters that still remain in the Democrat party. He is their favorite Republican. It would also make him and Bloomberg go for the same votes if Bloomberg isn’t just blowing smoke with his talk of an independent run. Would be a WILD race.

I have thought that for a long time.

His goal isn’t to get elected either. His goal is to get even, by seeing to it that a ‘Rat is in the White House in 2009.

I think Bloomberg has his eye on the Unity 08 slot as well. They love him over there. McCain/Lieberman is a popular ticket as well.

No, the third party candidate will be Tancredo. He is all ready setting up his organization. He is entirely to convinced of his own infallablity to accept the will of the voters. McCain is too old and doesn't have the money or the orgranization

I agree with you.

You should have heard the smart-ass replies he gave Republican voters here in NH when they complained about the immigration bill.

"You got a better plan?" he snapped at them.

When I saw this, it confirmed for me that he doesn't give a rat's posterior about the Republican primary.

McCain seems unstable, thus unpredictable.

He may well be receptive to a third party run. And it is my opinion that the Clintons and their minions, the MSM, have been setting him up for just such a run -- reprising the Ross Perot role from 1992.

Indeed, the Bloomberg boomlet might put even more starch in an independent McCain candidacy. If Bloomie runs, he'll clearly pick up more votes from the left than the right. Thus, a McCain "fourth party" run from the right would become a necessity for the Democrats to win.

Actually, I believe a four-party race in '08 would benefit conservatives. As the largest single cohesive voting block in the country, the more fractionated the electorate, the more likely our candidate would be to win.

These are just a bunch of Democrat Socialists pretending to be “Centerist” in the hopes they can find another Perot to split the Conservatives. This is just a Hillary front group. Problem is they have to actually start taking position on Issues and as soon as they open their mouths they will be dead meat.

Nothing to this one. They are more likely to hurt then help a Dem. To far Left. Tancredo is the guy to watch.

If he does run as an independent, he will probably pull more votes from the Dem candidate than the Republican — except perhaps in RINO-land, where an (R) can’t win anyway.

Mc Cain recently appeared, by phone, on our local talk radio program where he discussed his failed amnesty plan with the host.

I had no idea he was such a jerk. I've held the opinion he's a little crazy for some time time but he's also rude and condescending.

I would hope so.

However, my understanding is that it is the undecideds/moderates who decide elections. My anecdotal experience is this McCain is very popular with this group.
