Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch Live Thread Friday 7:38 PM EDT

his is the official live thread for the Space Shuttle Atlantis.. The shuttle is suppose to launch at 7:38 PM EST.

If you can't view the launch on Cable or Satellite you can go to the Nasa site to view launch live.

How far away?...aren't you close by?

Wish they had a parallel feed that stays with the liquid tank.

“Falling off” was cool.

Main engine cutoff and jettison of the external tank! Atlantis has reached orbit and Commander Rick Sturckow has confirmed a good separation.

Did it Launch? Our station was supposed to break away when it did.......did I miss it?

Because I wasn’t at the Cape. I was at JSC and completely spaced off the launch until I walked into the lobby.

They’re up, external tank is gone. About 45 minutes until the circularize the orbit.

I hadn't thought about it either but it makes sense because we were looking underneath the Orbiter and there is nothing there but tiles.

There’s an Atlas 5 launch in a couple days. Not quite as big as the shuttle, but really hot.
