No as in “no” against cloture? Or no against the bill? As I understood it, “no” against cloture is good because it means they can keep debating it ad infinitum and adding ridiculous amendments to it that will kill it.

I caught the following nays from the dark side:
Bingaman, Rockefeller, McCaskill, Landrieu
(Just turned to CSPAN2, so the list is very incomplete).

No vote tally on C-Span...warner votes against. There’s a shock..

Well the night shift here, better watch them. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they didn’t try to sneak back during the early hours for a “shhhh” vote.

No against cloture. Yes they can keep debating it, but I believe Reid says if this cloture vote fails, the bill is FINI.
Garrett said they might bring it up later in the year but he doubted it.

Yeehaw!
It’s dead now, but I fear a “Friday the 13th” type of revival. We must stay alert.
But for now...Whew!

I hope a stinging defeat soon wipes those arrogant smirks off their faces.

So let’s all understand: the BILL is not dead? Cloture means that they will NOT end debate, meaning they can keep adding amendments that will (we hope) destroy it. Am I correct in this?

Let's all say a prayer - and keep a tally of the RINOs that supported it.
It's not over - They'll try again.

Excellent news, it looks like amnesty is dead for this year. :)
Now it's time for Ted Kennedy to sit down and STFU. He's been screwing up the immigration policy in this country long enough.
To: golfisnr1
yesterday the crooked ole man from Nevada said he would pull the measure from this years congress if debate was not shut off today.
To: golfisnr1
Yeah, but not against the "bill," only against ending debate on the bill, correct?
Folks am I wrong here? To the extent that the Dems are losing, more debate likely means more "poison pill" amendments, which will kill the bill . . . but it could also mean more "compromise."

Sounds good to me. But keep an eye out for any signs of revival.
