So let’s all understand: the BILL is not dead? Cloture means that they will NOT end debate, meaning they can keep adding amendments that will (we hope) destroy it. Am I correct in this?

You’re right - the bill is not yet dead. I have repeated some rumors re: a new set of “compromise” amendments in my post #41 upthread. Might only be a rumor; i true though, it means this bill might still have some life in it.
As another FReeper pointed out, we shouldn't’t allow this bill to rise like a phoenix sometime tomorrow.

They can keep debating but Reid said if this second cloture vote didn’t pass he’d pull the bill from the floor. In other words it’s dead...for now. I hope for a long time. We’ll have to be vigilant or these slugs will try to slip through in the middle of the night.
