Lindsay Graham Melting In Dark (RINO Hissy Fit)
Captains Quarters ^ | 6/7/07 | Captain Ed

Posted on 06/07/2007 6:54:16 AM PDT by teddyballgame

The amendment infuriated Graham, a South Carolina Republican with close ties to another presidential hopeful, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. Pacing the Senate floor and waving Obama's amendment, Graham loudly accused Obama of undermining a delicate agreement whose advocates have shown political courage. Issues that require bipartisanship often fail, Graham said, "because some people, when it comes to the tough decisions, back away." Obama's amendment, he said, would destroy the bill's prospects and bring special woe to Republicans—such as himself—who have endured conservatives' searing criticism for backing it.

It would undercut "everybody over here who's walked the plank and told our base, 'You're wrong,'" Graham said. "So when you're out on the campaign trail, my friend, tell them about why we can't come together. This is why."

With this bill, Pandsey might as well have ridden through Columbia with a bumper sticker that said “BILL SHERMAN IS MY HERO”. If this keeps up, Ol’ Strom is going to dig himself out of his tomb up in Edgefield, hitch a ride to DC, and issue Pandsey a serious beatdown!

Basically he’s begging for this bill to pass, because he will be walking the plank and booted out of office if itb does not pass.

You know, I'm getting the impression that these quislings are "walking the plank" for someone other than their constituents.

They're all making huge bets in the face of overwhelming constituent opposition. It seems obvious they're going to pay dearly in the next elections, whether it passes or not.

So what are they betting on? What is their near-hysteric interest in getting it passed? It's sure not the next election, it's not fidelity to the Republican Party, and it's not some perverse interpretation of conservative principles.

What is the payoff?

I'm entertaining a very dark and di$turbing hypothe$i$ that the payoff i$ $omething el$e.

Maybe Saxby and Johnny are nervous about having to walk the plank themselves.

If they're not, they ought to be.

It's really beyond my comprehension to see just how tone deaf they've been with regard to their GA base's feelings on illegal immigration. The only explanation for it is the amount of money that GA agribusiness is pumping into their campaign coffers in return for a steady supply of illegal labor.

Too bad for Saxby and Johnny that corporate boards are numerically small and illegals can't vote (legally). I don't think the base is going to forget about this.

I’ve contacted McConnell’s office directly several times demanding that he kill this bill.... I got NO RESPONSE to my emails... when I called them, I was told he was “still evaluating” his position on the bill because the final structure was “still evolving”. LOL

It needs to DEVOLVE, not evolve.

The really funny thing is I’m sure Graham thought he would inherit Strom’s job security.

I’ve got one for you.

“Welcome to Little Mexico restaurant, how many in your party, and would that be smoking or non-smoking?”

(Little Mexico is a real restaurant up on St. Andrews Road in Columbia. Go there if you’re in the neighborhood. It’s awesome.)

Arrogance.
The good peoples of SC should rid themselves of this scum, take a long hot shower and try again.

Maybe the people of Georgia will kick Chambliss and Isakson out and replace them with Herman Cain and Jack Kingston--although I understand Kingston's close to becomming Speaker of the House if the Republicans ever manage to retake it.

Can't you just hear them saying to Saxby: "I'm not questioning your patriotism; I'm questioning your judgment."

You're not the only one. I personally think they're trying to assure themselves favorable treatment in the coming NAU.

I’ve been wondering the same thing for a while now...

Normally it's campaign contributions and PAC money, and I know for a fact that the usual suspects from K Street are supporting this Shamnesty (direct link to http://www.meatami.com/1CQImmigrationAd030206.pdf).

But this is something else entirely.

Large numbers of elected officials are gambling their careers over this, at very unappealing odds.

OK, I'll say it. Don your tinfoil caps:

Mexican mob money.

Well, maybe not. But something like it.

Anyone remember the fervor behind our invasion of Haiti, and who was ramrodding that, and why?

If you think that wasn't driven by coke money and Caymans bank accounts, I'd say look at it again.

It would undercut "everybody over here who's walked the plank and told our base, 'You're wrong,'"

This is about as twisted as it gets. A representative saying he's courageous for not representing his people.
