Today is the Cloture Vote on Immigration Bill [first cloture vote fails; 2nd cloture vote fails]
7 June 2007 | Gulf War One

Posted on 06/07/2007 6:17:41 AM PDT by Gulf War One

This is the homestretch.

Call and e-mail your senators today, Republicans and Democrats, urging them not to table debate on this critical piece of legislation.

It deserves a fair and open debate of all ramifications. To do otherwise is unamerican.

Ask them to vote "NO" on cloture.

Keep bumping this to the top.

Today is the day.

It takes 40 to vote down cloture but not to filibuster. A filibuster needs just enough courage to keep someone at the lectern 24/7, to keep it from being put to vote. Senator Robert Byrd is legendary for his ramblings while stalling legislation he stood against. With C-SPAN, perhaps Senator Sessions, Senator DeMint and a few others could rotate and read the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and McGuffey’s Reader...and actually educate some people.

REMEMBER THE ALAMO.

I called my 2 senators; one of them in the author of this POS. Sen. Allard is a dependable conservative; Salazar, on the other hand, is a rabid La Raza fanatic whose mind is closed on this issue.

Is this true? A single individual Senator can still truly filibuster without a 60 vote ability to end the filibuster? If so, let's find a hero. He'll be the most popular Republican in the country with Republicans.

I have been trying to get through on the Capitol Switchboard since last night, and have gotten a busy signal every time. I tried again this morning, with no luck.

I did contact Arlen Specter at his local office number and talked to a very bored staffer to register my displeasure, but I doubt it will do any good.

Spirits among conservative critics of the immigration bill have brightened today following several Senate votes that indicate at least 40 senators could block the bill during a cloture vote tomorrow.

Well-placed sources tell me that activists are focusing their attention on the following list of senators:
Sam Brownback (R.-Kan.),
Richard Burr (R.-N.C.),
Saxby Chambliss (R.-Ga.),
Larry Craig (R.-Idaho),
Pete Domenici (R.- N.M.),
Byron Dorgan (D.-N.D.),
John Ensign (R.-Nev.),
Mike Enzi (R.-Wyo.),
Judd Gregg (R.-N.H.),
Johnny Isakson (R.-Ga.),
Jon Kyl (R.-Ariz.),
Mary Landrieu (D.-La.),
Trent Lott (R.-Miss.),
Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.),
Claire McCaskill (D.-Mo.),
Ben Nelson (D.-Neb.),
Mark Pryor (D.-Ark.),
Debbie Stabenow (D.-Mich.),
John Sununu (R.- N.H.),
Jon Tester (D.-Mont.),
George Voinovich (R.-Ohio),
Jim Webb (D.-Va.),
John Warner (R.-Va.).

These individuals are apparently still non-committal about how they will vote on the final bill or could be swayed depending on votes either for or against amendments to the bill.

These two clowns from Georgia better back their bags if they support this assault on American Sovereignty.

And right next door in Georgia our Senators are unrecognizable to most Republicans.
They sold out!

The Scripture you cited was exactly what I prayed this am. I asked that the Lord heal our land for the sake of those in our country who belong to Him. Keep praying!
