Call and e-mail your senators today, Republicans and Democrats, urging them not to table debate on this critical piece of legislation.
It deserves a fair and open debate of all ramifications. To do otherwise is unamerican.
Ask them to vote "NO" on cloture.
Keep bumping this to the top.

And, unfortunately, Rick Santorum was watching too but not from there. What up with PA? Santorum is really smart.
Thanks for the information (re: Mel Martinez). I did not know that. It does raise the question why the Republicans put him in such a crucial position. It must have to do more with so-callled compassion than with conservatism, I guess.

Martinez remarks about letting down all those poor people [illegal aliens] who make the beds at our hotels, cut the grass, clean the parks, etc. is so demeaning and he doesn’t even realize it. I guess these “slaves” are supposed to be happy to do these menial chores for us and we should reward them with citizenship. The laws of this country mean nothing.
"Though no one wants to reward illegal behavior, we must find a way for these workers to come forward, make good on the past and participate in a program that leads to permanent residency and eventual citizenship."
This is enough to make a vegetarian out of me, except for the fact that the lobbies for the dairy, fruit, and vegetable growers are on board for amnesty. Texans and others in the South and Midwest should remember that Tyson Foods and Pilgrim's Pride, large scale poultry agribusinesses, have signed on for amnesty. Consider that fact when you are shopping for chicken and pork. The paymasters of the politicians who are trying to permit untold millions of foreigners into this country should be made to hear from patriotic consumers and feel it on their bottom line.

There was a news quote from a fresh illegal down near the border this morning.
He said trainloads of other illegals are right behind him, trying desperately to cross the border before all the jobs are taken.
Surprise: they don't seem to care that the deadline for presence in the U.S. was 6 months ago.
