The most critical amendment was that of Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.), to restrict legalization of violent felons and gang members. That amendment failed 51 to 46, but a weaker version by Sen. Kennedy passed. The 51 morons who voted against this amendment have exposed themselves to some devastating campaign rhetoric. I can already see/hear the television/radio advertisement in the 2008/2010/2012 campaign . . .
"Senator [X] even voted to provide legal status to violent felons and gang members who have entered this country illegally."
It doesn't get any more basic than this, folks. How f#%&ing stupid can these people be?

I can hear it now when the question comes up about the rest of the fence funding.....
the American people said they don't want it right now by rejecting an immigration bill that included enforcement....WE TRIED!
What a farce.

The defection of high-profile opponents of last year's immigration bill, including Senators Kyl, Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), has diminished the opposition What's happened to Georgia? Both Republic Senators are supporting this mess?

That amendment failed 51 to 46 Does the U.S. Senate have no shame whatsoever? Has it really gotten so bad that an amendment to restrict legalizing violent illegal alien felons and gang members was defeated? How could you vote against that? Are those the "hard working people doing the jobs Americans just won't do", that BS line Bush and Kennedy keep shoving down all our throats?
Lott, Chambliss, Isakson and whoever else defected from their stances just last year most likely did so because the White House called them and threatened to take away pork projects or whatever if they didn't. They strongarm these people, forcing them to be good soldiers.

Well, call if we can get through. My senior senator (Warner) has turned turtle. I tried numerous times yesterday and just got busy signals. Today, I tried both the local area code 202 number and the 800 number you posted and got transferred automatically to a voice mail box which was full and then disconnected. They are going to force people to stand in their doorways, but they are trying to move the bill through too quickly for effective civil disobedience to gather.
