DRUDGE - REPORTS: IMMIGRATION BILL ON THE BRINK OF COLLAPSE IN SENATE... DEVELOPING...
DRUDGE ^ | DRUDGE (or Breitbart)

That is the headline on Drudge and all he has for now. Since Matt is undoubtedly in bed on the East Coast, we can probably thank Andrew Breitbart.

The immigration bill is on the brink of collapse in the Senate. Let's hope for some more developments soon.

I hate when Drudge does this...

Right now he has R.I.P. and shows someone (Reid?) holding a copy of the bill.

But the accompaning article is how it's in trouble-(supposedly)....not that it's dead

So misleading.....

..this thing won't be dead until a stake is driven through its heart!

This is too funny: Kennedy asserted that Cornyn’s bill associates Z visa applications with the law enforcement process, which will prevent illegals from “coming out of the shadows”.

According to Fat Boy, they’ll be afraid of applying and being deported if they think LEOs will be looking at applications for felony criminal records and prior deportation notices.

I guess that makes sense if you’re a criminal and/or absconder, and applying for a Z visa.

The senile and demented Specter had different reasons: he wants felony criminals to have access to due process with regard to Z visas (despite the fact that they’ve already been convicted of a felony in a criminal court), and that absconders should have “a detailed review” of their deportation orders, despite the fact that deportation orders are issued only after all appeals to an immigration court have been exhausted.

Specter appears to think it’s A-OK to trump America’s criminal and immigration courts, and to revisit 1 or 2 million illegal alien cases.

I think he’s concerned about an arcane provison of Scottish or maybe Lithuanian law.

“It’s hard to avoid the impression — I’d love to be corrected on this — that the man just isn’t very bright.”

I have to disagree. Having been born and raised in the South, I have seen many men like him.

Understatement and slow speaking is a deliberate and disarming facade they adopt.

He is exactly the kind of lawyer that you don’t want to oppose in court. You think you’re doing fine until he says checkmate, and you realize that you are boxed in from six different directions.

To folks that are not from the South, men like this appear to be not so bright and they often underestimated them, much to their chagrin.

Correct. Drudge should be completely ignored. It's not dead until it's dead.

“Refuse citizenship to any child born of illegals here.”

Anchor babies ...... From what I hear the law never had the intent of granting citizenship to children of foreign countries.

This is the Illegals silver bullet. Our Achilles heal.

Sessions has been the most outspoken, yet truthful senator on the floor about illegals....

On every conservative issue he is truthful and outspoken. :)

EE, shhh..don’t let it be widely known that Senator Sessions is a master of understatement and slow speaking, which is a deliberate and disarming facade adopted by Sessions with great success...

Exactly! He was our Atty. General before he ran for Senate and he was outstanding. Cleaned up govt. corruption and was one of the state Republicans instrumental in getting Alabama to stop voting yellow dog democrat and to vote republican. He is very popular here, I can’t imagine anyone thinking he isn’t very bright.

Dorgan ammendment passed 49-48 sunsetting the guest worker provision.

That kills the bill.

I hope our side has 40 Senators to filibuster this bill. I read somewhere that only about 30 Senators are solidly against the bill.

If this collapses, and I hope it does, will our fearless leaders continue move forward with their promises to “secure the border.” Or, will border security suddenly become less urgent?

Dorgan may have introduced his amendment thinking it would be defeated. Mitch may, in fact, be behind this. And, best of all——no fingerprints!

“We kill this now, then we have a fighting chance to finally enforce our immigration laws. In ‘08. Provided we pick the right guy and get him elected.”

AGREED!! And the only one who has truly walked the walk and talked the talk....DUNCAN HUNTER!

(If we keep saying he can’t, he won’t)
