OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- An arrest has been made in the homicide investigation of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith.
Late Wednesday night, police said Edwin R. Hall, 26, of Olathe, was being held in the Johnson County Jail in connection with the slaying of Smith.
Law enforcement crews combing a large wooded area near Longview Lake Wednesday found a body believed to be missing teenager Kelsey Smith, who was abducted from an Overland Park Target store parking lot Saturday night.
Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said Smith's body was found about 1:30 p.m. across the state line near Grandview, Mo., about 20 miles east of the abduction site.
Positive identification was pending, but Douglass said volunteer searchers could stop their work. He did not say how the woman was slain, but KMBC reported that there were signs of trauma to the body.
"As I understand she was found at a wooded area, but I can't say whether she was directly concealed by bushes," Douglass told reporters during an afternoon news conference.

Evisceration while conscious.
Kansas has it, but we don't use it much. If they can prove that he killed her on the Missouri side of the border then I don't mind them trying him. They aren't as squeemish about executions as we seem to be.
With all the visibility this has had? The guy is toast.
I told my two girls the same thing - I don’t care if someone tells them they will kill them if don’t get in the car, or that they have her parents and will kill them - don’t get in the car. Fight, scream, bite, kick, roll, whatever you have to do to cause a scene, because once you are in the car, the chances of coming out are slim.
Phill may not get his chance. If the actually killing occured on the Missouri side of the line then they have jurisdiction and should try him for the more serious crime of murder. I hope Kline doesn't try and grab the case for political reasons. Besides, they actually execute over there.
How about a long rope from a short tree -- over and over again?
What we need is a wealthy benefactor to finance a crew of inventive lawyers.
Find a way to sue these judges, parole boards, psychiatrists that allow major offenders, sex offenders in particular, to walk.
Just one precedent setting suit would have a chilling effect on the system.
Make these idiot court officials financially responsible for their decisions.
Amen....NEVER get in the car.
bttt
I noticed on the news the number on the house is 511.
Freepers get to work. Watching my fox news live in KCMO and the perp apparently has a MYSPACE.COM page in which his “friends” accused him of murder before his arrest.
It made me think of how my family and young cousins sometimes go to walmart three times a day.

It’s really disheartening to me that I heard her father say that she always said if anybody tried to get her into a car she was going to kick some ass.
Looks nothing like him, In my opinion.
They just showed his mug pic on Fox, and it looks nothing like the bald headed guy’s pic, either.
