"He was surprised by the reaction," Mr. Snow said of Mr. Bush's speech in Glynco, Ga., last week. "The speech in Georgia was, 'We've got a serious problem and we need to fix it.' It was not in any way designed to be pointed at Republicans." But conservative opponents of a Senate immigration bill supported by Mr. Bush reacted furiously to the president's suggestion that they are resorting to scare tactics by using the word "amnesty" in referring to the measure that would allow millions of illegal aliens to remain in the United States.

I went through Senator Kennedy’s idiotic speech on the Senate floor, argued it point by point, then faxed it to him, my two “Senators,” and my “Representative.” You are right - keep those cards and letters going! Inundate them with emails and phone calls! Time for action before they completely ruin this country!

Does anyone our there feel like they have been left out in the cold. I mean while everyone officially that is, Jeb Bush, etc. are signing on to the immigration bill, does anyone feel like there is something we dont know? For example, why the heck are they doing this? I have been flamed all night by some for daring to ask this question.
To some, we are supposed to just believe it is the right thing to do because Bush cares. To question this is unpatriotic.
Be careful for daring to really seek to know why. LOL!

W has always wanted amnesty and he was unsuccessful in 06. Here with a liberal congress he’s trying it again.
Why else try to do it in the cover of the night?

“”He was surprised by the reaction,” Mr. Snow””
So, is Bush a liar, or just stupid and dense?
It’s the same reaction as last year’s reaction.

What with the Myers nomination, not pardoning Libby, supporting Rinos for reelection supporting this stupid amnesty deal me thinks he is out of touch.

No one that comes to mind. That’s not surprising. I’ve always thought that was true.

This is what happens when govt. gets in bed with business to raid the public treasury. Business passing off their expenses to the taxpayer.

Mr. Snow yesterday said the immigration dispute between the president and conservatives "does not mark a point of disjunction,"
It is a point of disjunction.
"We understand if you're going to get this thing done, you're gonna need Republicans," Mr. Snow said. "It's important to build a large coalition, including our conservative base."
Its not your base anymore.
"Tony and others within the administration had been urging conservatives prior to the president's remarks to give Bush the benefit of the doubt as far as motives are concerned and to keep the debate civil.
This seems to be a one way street.
'After all,' [Mr. Snow] said at a meeting I attended, 'at the end of the day we're all on the same team.'
No longer.
Maybe its time to discuss about a bipartisan bill to bring the troops home to guard the border. That might get the Presidents attention.

Neither am I. I used to scoff at that too. Funny thing though. GWB’s daddy used those exact words in one of his speeches.
