You might think last night's Republican debate is the big political story.
But there are a couple of things bouncing around the blogosphere that have a bit more sex appeal than 10 middle-aged white guys on a stage. They involve (deep breath here) the candidates' wives, especially Fred Thompson's wife. So let's do a little bit of counterprogramming before we dive into the debate chatter

The real reason there has been little outrage about Joe Scarborough’s comments? No one watches the bozo — he’s on MSNBC!

Scarborough and his ilk don’t seem to care that Thompson’s wife is an accomplished attorney and long time RNC staffer.. nope, because she looks good she ‘must have worked the pole’.. sick sexist comment..

Thompsons wife is an accomplished attorney and long time RNC staffer.. Change "Thompson" to "Clinton," and "RNC" to "DNC" and you get what? The media's darling.

"Anyone who has watched Scarborough for any length of time knows that Scarborough can be an ass. What we didn't know was that he could also be tacky enough to attack someone's wife in the most personal of terms. Thompson's wife is beautiful, but that doesn't make her a whore or a stripper. Perhaps it speaks to Scarborough's view of women that he immediately associates one with the other. SHA-BAM

Can we talk about the sex appeal of Hillary’s spouse? How about his insatiable sexual appetite outside his marriage to the woman who would be president?

Ping everyone. Since JimRob won't let DU material be posted here, I'm putting it on this thread, just to show everyone what they're saying about Fred and Jeri over there:
This says it all:
Won't matter. She's a plus with the demographic we need - white male swing voters in the South and mid-West.
I wish you guys could just come down here for a day and listen to local talk radio, read the local newspaper, read a few local blogs and you'll see just where I'm coming from.
Not being locked in a blue bubble has its advantages when one looks over the entire political landscape.
I'll say it again: Thompson scares the sh*t out of me because he has the most chance to win.
The Dummies are afraid. Just thought it was interesting peeking into enemy territory and seeing what they're saying over there about Fred.
There are a few naysayers there, just like here on FR (rolling eyes) but most of them admit they are scared to DEATH of him running.

Fine, dismiss those who try and warn you about this. And when Thompson promptly hands Hillary her a$$ next fall, try not to wince when we say "told you so". Another classic DU quote from that same thread. Gotta love it!

Scarborough reminds me of the Eric Idle character in the "Nudge Nudge" sketch:

Man: 'Evening, squire!
Squire: (stiffly) Good evening.
Man: Is, uh,... Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?
Squire: I, uh, I beg your pardon?
Man: Your, uh, your wife, does she go, eh, does she go, eh?
Squire: (flustered) Well, she sometimes 'goes', yes.
Man: Aaaaaaaah bet she does, I bet she does, say no more, say no more, know whatahmean, nudge nudge?
Squire: (confused) I'm afraid I don't quite follow you.
Man: Follow me. Follow me. That's good, that's good! A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat!.....
Squire: Look... are you insinuating something?
Man: Oh, no, no, no... yes.
Squire: Well?
Man: Well, you're a man of the world, squire.
Squire: Yes...
Man: I mean, you've been around a bit, you know, like, you've, uh... You've 'done it'...
Squire: What do you mean?
Man: Well, I mean like,... you've SLEPT, with a lady...
Squire: Yes...
Man: What's it like?
