These are not the droids you are looking for.

And it was R2D2 and CP3O that paved the way to popularity.

Do yo support gay droids in the droid military? What about droid and human marriage?

If “droid” means android and android is a human form robot, why are they calling the “tank like” robots “droids”?

Actually, since the DARPA Grand Challenge has been solved, it looks like the Mk I will be popping up for real with some of the proposed Abrams successors - though it might be more like the Mk. III as it will end up having a railgun as main armament.

Isaac Asimov did a pretty good job of penning the Three Laws of Robotics in 1942:
1- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2- A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

About that often, the staff there will have to deal with one or more teary eyed troops, carrying the blasted remains of their droid, and wanting to know if their little guy can be rebuilt.*sniff* C'mon doc, can you save him?
