The Senate debate over the immigration compromise bill was showing signs of trouble Tuesday as leaders began shifting blame to opposing sides on problems that had yet to be resolved.

The real question is will enough GOP senators like Lindsey Graham, John McCain, John Kyl, Saxby Chambliss,etc provide the votes to override a fillibuster. The democrats have enough votes to pass the bill outright. However, with the help of the GOP senators above, will the democrats have enough votes (60) to override a potential fillibuster. Only time will tell.

Time to keep the pressure on. Call, write, email your Senators and register your protest against this bill. Be calm and rational and use the argument that is most likely to make an impression on your Senator. If he is a liberal, mention how illegal immigrants depress wages and hurt unions. If he is a Republican, make sure he knows how destructive you think chain immigration is. In all cases, make sure to mention the report that this bill would only decrease illegal immigration by 25%...

We may not be able to stop this thing...but we owe it to our country to fight to the end...and then to start the fight over in the House.

That is what burns me the most. I live in NJ, and three of the six terrorist planning to attack Ft Dix were stopped by the police for driving violations over 50 times. Because these men lived in sanctuary cities, they were never detected as illegal immigrants. An admendment was proposed to outlaw Sanctuary Cities. It failed by a vote of 49 to 48. Guess what, 4 GOP Senators voted against outlawing sanctuary cities. I never been so livid in my life when that headline flashed across my computer.

Are you serious: the RINO senators mentioned are traitors to the survival of the Republican party.

They think they are so smart, that Democrats will vote for them -why on earth could someone expect to vote for a RINO when Democrats usually always vote a straight Democratic ticket.

I don’t believe for a second Republicans would filibuster their own president’s legislation... We’re in a weird place right now, where the head of our party is lashing out at us and aligning with the opposition. However, I think loyalty still counts for something in Washington, even when it’s completely undeserved. A Republican filibuster seems unlikely, and certain not to succeed if attempted.
