It's been eight weeks since Time magazine redesigned itself, and part of that refurbishment is handing over the "Ten Questions" interview inquiries to the readers instead of Time's reporters. In the June 11 edition, Time's interviewee was Rep. Tom Tancredo, a presidential contender and one of the nation's leading opponents of illegal immigration. Among the questions Time selected for Tancredo was a whopper from Ubaldo Padilla of Oroville, California: "Why do you hate Mexicans?" It wasn't the only snotty question Time picked. There was also James Smith of Phoenix, who asked: "I recently found out my family came from Holland without permission in the 1600s. Should we be sent back?" For the questions: www.time.com

Since Time Managing Editor Richard Stengel introduced the new format in the March 26 edition, there haven't been any Democrats interviewed. But in the March 12 edition, Time's Massimo Calabresi had ten (mostly softball) questions for Ted Kennedy, one of the nation's leading advocates of an amnesty for illegal immigrants. No one at Time asked him about immigration and why he supposedly hated Americans.

My question to Time, “Does anyone over the age of 13 read your magazine?”
How funny would it have been if he said, “James Smith from Phoenix, you are a F*CKING moron! No you are an ULTRA MORON! Next question.”
I think the correct wording of your question should be, “Have you, the editors of Time, stopped touching little boys yet?”
This reminds me of that Letter to Dr. Laura. “Dr. Laura, Leviticus clearly states that when I burn a bull upon the altar it creates a pleasing odor unto the lord. Trouble is, my neighbors don’t find it pleasing. What should I do?”
Not all illegal immigrants come from Mexico. But illegal immigration is still a problem that the government doesn’t want to deal with.
Not really, but they know if they play that card, they'll get what they want due to shouting down enough people who will be afraid of being labeled "stupid, ignorant racists".
Bump!

3. Illegal aliens are NOT necessarily coming here to work. Lou Dobbs recently reported that 33 percent of our prison population is now comprised of non-citizens. Plus, 36 to 42 percent of illegal aliens are on welfare. So, for a good proportion of these people, the American dream is crime and welfare, not coming here to work.
They say that the immigrants are coming here for jobs that no American wants. OK, I will stipulate that for the argument at hand (although i dont really believe it.) So, now they get their Z visas and they are legal to work in the country. (of course at THAT point who cares about being a citizen?)
Now that they are legal, why would they want to do those crappy jobs that Americans won’t do. Why wouldn’t they go to the next level job? And leave the crappy job unfilled. Until someone who couldnt get a Z Visa steps up and takes the job, without documentation.
I guess if the Z Visa folks would have to pay into Social Security, without being eligible for benefits, I would start to go along with it. But that will never, ever happen.
I guess I dont get it. I must be an idiot. I think I will just crawl under a rock.
“We bought land from Indians.”
That too. In any case, my point is the Indian analogy is inaccurate and, worse, gives ammunition to our enemies.
Re: reconquista, a lot of that is feuled by the Left and their propaganda. Ever notice that assimilation was chugging along fine until the late 60s and 70s?
Then I call Lou Dobbs on BS as well.
Look at the DOJ stats on the demographic makeup of prisoners at both the state and federal level. It’s nowhere near that high. Let’s see some credible stats, not just hysterical anecdotal information.
Same goes for the welfare statement. Let’s see some hard statistics. Just tossing a statistic out there to try and make a case doesn’t make it fact. That’s a DU tactic.
Like I said above: I don’t want people entering this country illegally. But suspect “facts” and hysterical vitriol do nothing toward that end, and probably hurt the cause more than anything.
Then I call BS on your BS call. You show your sources and stats.
