OVERLAND PARK, Kan. A $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the safe return of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith, who was forced into her car at a Target store on Saturday.
"Every indication is, its been an abduction," Overland Park Police Chief John Douglas told FOX News on Tuesday. "So far, our best information is coming from the surveillance video."
Police viewed the footage Monday. The video shows Smith, of Overland Park, Kan., leaving the store around 7:10 p.m. She had put pac

Same here, but that was 40 years ago for me, LOL. It is a different, different world today. So sad.
Good ideal. I'll keep bumping the thread to the top...
Welcome to FR. I'm in Jo Co too.
I added Kansas and Missouri to the Topics so that FReepers in that area would be more likely to spot the story.
Ping.
Does she carry? That can sure reduce the chances of a perp getting his way. Most of them confidently assume that an attractive young woman is unarmed and act accordingly.
Wow, all you guys are great. I think some of the news agencies wait to see if family or friends aren’t involved in a spat before they print things, but in this case, I think it’s obvious she has met with foul play.
Good advice. If you are going to die, die before you get in the car.
It’s very simple, really. If you know you are in a life-threatening situation, you do whatever it take to try and save yourself.
Coincidence that she was abducted just before this? Probably, but I sure hope they're tracking down former boyfriends and wannabe boyfriends who might have been in a position to know her current boyfriend's plans for the evening, and been insanely jealous enough to abduct her to stop it.
Family/friends and foul play are often one and the same thing in these cases.

“Yep. Better to be killed at the outset while fighting for ones life than to die like a helpless animal later.”
Absolutely right and I’ve drummed this into my kids heads. 4 of my 5 kids are black belts in taekwondo (the 5th is too young but she’s in training). I told them to fight to the death, if necessary, before they get pushed into a car because whatever is waiting for them at the end of the car ride will be much, much worse.
I hate to say it but something very similar to this happened in Virginia not that long ago and it didn’t turn well. A girl was abducted outside a busy ball in broad daylight. They later found her body but also found the perp. Since, it was Virginia, perp will probably be executed. Same thing happened to that young girl in Minnesota a couple of years ago. Malls are dangerous! It is hard to see between cars in the lot — even in daylight. I always take a good look around while I’m getting into mine and I keep a club handy.
Authorities say this young man, according to Fox news, came out about the same time as the victim and they think he might have seen what happened.
here’s my question. They say she was “pushed into the car.” And then they show this young man walking out of the Target. So did he do the pushing? I wonder why the police didn’t make that clearer.
Let’s all make sure we preserve the “free speech rights” of pornographers!

I have always stressed this with my daughters. It's better to be left bleeding and dying in a public parking lot rather than be abducted to be raped and/or tortured and left bleeding and dying in a remote location. First, if it's your car that you are being forced into, toss your keys as far away from the car as you can and then scream, run, kick and claw. Fight with every ounce of strength you can muster.
I can hear the excuses now when they find the person responsible for this. He was abused when he was younger. He had a horrible childhood. He didn’t get a BMW at his sweet 16 birthday party. He was high on drugs. The list goes on.
