First on TVNewser: Maybe Katie Couric should have stayed on The Today Show.
On Friday, Today outrated the CBS Evening News by 200,000 viewers and a full rating point in the demo.
According to fast affiliate data, Today on NBC had 5,100,000 viewers, while the Evening News on CBS had 4,900,000. In the demo, Today had a 2.2 and EN had a 1.2.
"It happens in the metered markets all the time. But this is the first time I've seen it in the national numbers," a competitor says. "I wonder if this will become a regular occurrence?"

I suppose that CBS will decide to pull the plug on Katie when she gets down to 250 viewers. A lot of everyday folks with vocations in other fields called the move to put her into the job a big mistake. But not the CBS “experts”.

The CBS snooze still had 4.9 million viewers?
I didn’t know there were that many nursing homes out there.

Why don’t they just call it The CSI Evening News like everything else on the network and see if that works any better? Her signing is a bigger waste of $40 million than the Yankees signing of Carl Pavano. He won 5 games during his time with the Yanks which might be more weeks than Her Perkiness has won in the ratings since she started.

I heard various people talking about this today and the reason given is always the same: it’s gender. America just isn’t ready for a female news anchor. It’s not her fault or CBS’s fault...it’s our fault. We just aren’t enlightened enough for a female anchor.

CBS’s misfortune is like that of a man who discovers that he has married a transexual...what a comedy of errors this whole Katie Couric ‘coup’ is playing out to be...heeh heeh...
