Whenever you think the UN has reached rock bottom, they start digging.
They'll make Mugabe's butchers the Chair on environmental and agricultural matters, no problem. But Paul Wolfowitz has a girlfriend!?! Mon Dieu!

I am no longer capable of being surprised by the despicable acts and nature of the UN, the left-wing, and the islamic-fascists.
I am absolutely DISGUSTED by them, but not surprised.
One more to add, the UN is having more “peacekeeping” troubles in Africa with “peacekeepers” involved in a “gold for guns” market concerning local warlords. In the end, the people the UN was “sworn” to protect are killed by said warlords as the UN forces stand by and watch.
Not surprising, just disgusting.

There's no such thing as the United Nations. If the U.N. secretary building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference. -- John Bolton Love that quote.

Waaaaayyyy back in 1984, WGST-AM radio in Atlanta (not exactly a hotbed of radical, conservative Americanist philosophy) polled its listening audience and asked the question Is the United Nations doing a good job? 81% responded NO!
So, 23 years later, why the hell are we still involved with one of the most corrupt and liberty-threatening organizations ever invented?
Sounds like a question for YOUR congress critters next TOWN HALL MEETING to me.

I say declare the UN complex unfit for occupancy and give them 30 days notice to vacate, condemn the buildings and hire a demolition contractor to begin demolition on day 31.

If a university were to grant Robert Mugabe an honorary degree in human rights, land reform and economic development, it would lose every shred of credibility. Yet on May 11, the United Nations, with so little credibility of its own, actually squandered more of it when Zimbabwe, ravaged by its dictator, was voted the chair of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development -- specializing in economic land and rural development -- as well as the environment
No more UN for US-list
If people want on or off this list, please let me know.

Oh, no - the UN should relocate to someplace progressive like Zimbabwe. They love it so much, let them go there. After they pay their parking tickets, of course.

The most amazing thing about this article is noting who wrote it.

Has Net Hentoff become a [GASP] "conservative"?IIRC, he's a big civil libertarian, although I vaguely remember him being pro-life as well.

Last night the "wonderful"(their opinion not mine) candidates for president of the USA from the left side of the aisle postulated, nay, insisted that the UN should send troops into the Sudan to save Darfur. And in the next breath those troops were to be coming from the USA.
What kind of twi-light civilization are we living in that such buffoons are vying to run this great nation?

At the very least, the United States should shut down the NYC office and expel them from American shores.

Ridiculous insane organization. Pull out now. Stop funding anything having to do with the UN. In no time it will disintegrate.
No need to harbor more terrorists in our midst.
