Away visiting friends the last few days, I've been using GoToMyPC.com to access the video-capture capabilities of my home desktop. While it works well [unpaid testimonial] and lets me view the video once I've moved it to an editing board, for some reason while tuning in live to a show, the screen-within-a-screen is black. Thus, in "watching" Today this morning live, I could only hear, but not see, the segment on last night's Dem debate in New Hampshire.
But the ears-only experience was actually edifying. It permitted me to focus entirely on Hillary's voice, undistracted by her image. It's no revelation to say that Clinton's tone is anything but mellifluous. And though this was not Hillary at her nails-on-chalkboard worst, even so one can imagine Americans sitting at home asking themselves "do I want to listen to this for the next four years?" The clip I've provided includes three instances of Hillary speaking seriously on various issues. What's worse in some ways, is that it is followed by two instances of Clinton laughter. There is something about her forced giggle that is every bit as grating as Hillary in hectoring mode. Judge for yourself.
View and listen here.
Bottom line: Carl Bernstein, author of a recent Hillary bio, portrays Clinton as "inauthentic." Here is auditory proof thereof.
BONUS COVERAGE: Chewing over the debate with Tim Russert, Matt Lauer left little doubt he feels Hillary's obstinate refusal to acknowledge that her vote to authorize the war was a mistake is hurting her politically.
"TODAY" CO-HOST MATT LAUER: What surprises me, by the fact that Senator Clinton has still not been willing to say anything close to that it was a mistake to cast that original 2002 vote to authorize the war, she gets the subject to come up over and over again. So do you think this strategy is backfiring?Contact Mark at mark@gunhill.net
NBC WASHINGTON BUREAU CHIEF HOST TIM RUSSERT: She won't let go of it, Matt. She thinks that to admit a mistake would be a sign of weakness. But she's standing next to Edwards, Dodd and Biden who have all said we're sorry, so sorry [nice Brenda Lee allusion], and Obama who was against it from the very beginning. The issue continues to be raised, and haunt her candidacy in the Democratic primary, but she's thinking general election, strength against a Republican candidate on a national security issue.
Hillary’s-lovely-voice ping to Today show list.
She plowed in a field? What now? the farmer vote?........
Is it just good lighting & makeup - or does Hillery’s face look brighter, firmer, smoother? Her eyes look wide open & her jowls & wrinkles are not noticeable. Did they put the fuzz lens on her or something?
Hillary’s voice grates on one’s nerves, and many compare it to scraping a fingernail across a chalkboard. She shrieks and squawks like a chicken with its head cut off. Toss in her phony “Southern accent” and she makes me want to vomit.
HiIllary’s voice has the same calming effect as the sound of a tractor-trailer full of live hogs locking up the brakes on a wet bridge at 70 mph.

I found that an interesting use of words.
I would have used:
Hearing Hillary Harridanning
I thought listening to John Edwards was worse. He claims that the “War on Terrorism” is a political bumper sticker. What would he call the plot to blow up the JFK Airport fuel lines? This guy is so phoney, I have to change the channel evrytime I see him.
I wouldn’t want to be down wind of either one of them.
“does Hillerys face look brighter, firmer, smoother?”
There are simple injections that will do that. Takes about a half hour in a doctor’s office.
I can’t help it. I grew up on a farm and whenever I hear HARROW, that’s what I think of, instead of the other definition.........

She hounded President Bush for a reason to admit he made some mistakes
She knew the media would have a feeding frenzy with it and it would bring down his poll #'s
Doctor's office?..........You can get Bondo at any Paint and Body Shop..........
Good morning..FYI, I was in Lang’s Little XDStore this moring..indulging in a cheese danish..a few Clinton staffers were at the next table, discussing the debate..general consensus is that she doen’t look “natural”..she has to find a way to “relax”..their words..thought it an interesting observation coming from INSIDE
She just looks fatter, to me.
Sometimes I “lurk” at DU (sometimes I’m a dirrrrrty girl) - I seldom see anyone have a good word to say for her over there. Most of them have complete & utter disdain for the woman.
I didn’t grow up on a farm and that’s what I thought at first, too.
Yeah, her face looks like someone who has had prednisone or something. She’s definitely had something done. Usually, I notice her wrinkles and witch-like droopy eyes - either that, or they got some hellacious lighting at that studio!
Once, in 2000, I flew from New Hampshire to Raleigh-Durham and sat next to a young lady who worked with the DNC. I told her
that I worked once with a famous politician, and she started blabbing all about the Gore strategy and how the Democrats were going to carry the South, blah, blah, blah. I let her ramble during the entire flight, telling me about how they were going to do this, that, etc.
As we landed, I let her know that I actually was working for the opposition. Boy, was she pissed.
