CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The wrong kind of whistle resulted in a grocery store employee losing his job.
Tom Pacholke, 18, said he was fired April 27 by his employers at Nino Salvaggio market in Macomb County's Clinton Township after using what is known as a wolf whistle to get the attention of a co-worker.
The co-worker, who Pacholke said he's known since seventh grade, was wearing a prom dress and walking into the market, The Detroit News reported Saturday.
Pacholke, of Clinton Township, said he was called into the market's office 20 minutes later and fired from the job he had held about 18 months. The co-worker didn't complain about the incident, he said.
Nino Salvaggio said the company has a policy of not commenting on employment issues.

Boy learns about PC world the hard way.
“Sexual harassment” laws were pushed by women who were er..not attractive enough to be ‘harassed’ sexually.
It was just a mating whistle. The birds are just waking up around here and they is a lot of whistling going on. I guess I should go out and start shooting them for improper behavior.
I don’t agree with this, but everyone knows at cat whistles when out in the 80’s. Nobody can get away with that anymore.
if he was not a white male (the only gorup that can be legally discriminated against)....he would not have lost his job!!!!
this isn’t news. this isn’t anyone’s business. so freaking what. maybe the kid will learn to act like a gentleman.
Just bleat like a sheep and take it, right?
They 18 year old was probably fired by the 18.5 year old who took his position a bit too seriously.
The kid was whistling at a friend in a prom dress, which would normally be considered a lighthearted compliment. It's not quite the same as whistling at a girl in Daisy Dukes or a tube top.
That’s what it’s like guys! A male/white/Christian can do no right. He is always wrong. He gets fired first. He gets hired last. Any accusation, no matter how unbelievable, is believed.
Too bad the people that fired this youngster don’t know the difference between sexual harrasment and not.
This wouldn’t have been a problem if he had whistled at another guy.
Crikey. Whatever next?
Good point! At least this happened to him while still a teen. It would be pretty stupid (on his part)if it happened to him one he was an adult, married with kids. When I worked construction in the late 70's, we were told to keep our comments and whistles to ourself. The owners of the jobsite wanted everyone to feel safe when they walked or drove by. If you feel that someone looks nice enough for you to let them know, walk up to them, introduce yourself and tell them how nice they look without making it sound like your mentally tearing their clothes off. Otherwise shut up and enjoy the view, but without leering.
Welcome to the Humorless Age.
Exactly, we just can't seem to stop this politically correct juggernaught that keeps flattening everything innocent in it's path.
I’ve shopped in this very store. It is a very fancy produce, meat and grocery, and Italian specialties shop. Up-scale and expensive. Didn’t go very often ‘cause I couldn’t afford it.
It is a family owned business. So, I suppose, while I disagree with their decision, they certainly had the right to make it.
Question is, how did an 18 year-old learn a wolf whistle. Thought those were gone for good! Personally, I’d be flattered....... Sigh. People can be so touchy.
