RICHMOND -- Former Sen. Fred Thompson yesterday said there is a giant disconnect between voters and politicians in Washington and that the immigration bill is the chief reason. Speaking to Virginia Republicans, Mr. Thompson, who is considering a run for president, drew a standing ovation when he said voters don't believe Washington politicians when they claim they are trying to secure the border as part of the bill. "You've got to secure the border first, before you do anything," he said. "The members say it's right here in this bill: the border. The response is, 'We don't care what's on a piece of paper -- secure the border.' This piece of paper doesn't secure the border."

” RINOs? Im hoping he can convince the conservatives who are acting like they cant do anything about this. “
Yeah. Kyl - usually conservative - is not only acting like there’s nothing he can do, he’s complicit.
“Thompson Sees Fences Between Congress, Voters”
Fences, fences, what a novel friggin’ idea.
Great ideas there.
My Bad! I looked before I posted, but not very well it seems. I’ll look a little closer next time.
How about “Better Fred than Red!”
Hillary wants to be the next “Chairman Mao” or “Chairman Meow” as Rush calls her.
If the article is more than a couple hours old chances are it has been posted. We are a bit obsessed. :)
The news organizations are changing titles, too, so duplicates are happening more often. No worries.
You said it.
Go FRED!
I believe that though I support Duncan he has to much ground to make up to be a front runner.
Besides American voters (one half the country) have become so synthesized to bad government that many a good and deserving politician doesn’t stand a chance.
At least Fred is speaking about things near and dear to my heart and I would bet most other conservatives.
I wonder what kind of smut/lies that the DNC muck diving cesspool will come up with on Fred?
Excellent assignments! A team like that would definitely not be PC and would not be afraid of engaging the left in a very tough way.
It’s refreshing to see someone, especially someone with political aspirations, actually willing to tell the truth about something. And double refreshing to see a candidate with *gasp* some common sense!
Fred assured a group of congressmen that he didn’t have any skeletons in his closet, except for being chased and caught by women.
Fred is already on record as saying that wasn't possible or feasible. But he does believe (he says) that we need to secure our borders BEFORE anything else is done on immigration reform. That is probably as good as conservatives are going to get in a Presidential candidate.
They are ALL RINOS and have put the Senator in the middle of the supporters for the Amnesty bill.
While it's good that Fred knows which end is up, it's actually bad that he's unaware that Warner doesn't anymore.
The federal government does this all the time with respect to the standards underwhich it manages federal employees (as an example), and anything else that they can get their hands on that involves money.
I recall the many times my retirement savings were "adjusted" to balance the budget of the United States of America. Although this amounted to a tax I was paying (and you weren't), the courts had spoken many times and the answer was "tough tomatoes sucker" every single time.
Several minor legislative revisions can be appended to the law authorizing the Z-visa to undo all of Teddy Kennedy's mischief. For one, an annual "visa management surcharge" could be set at $10,000 per capita ~ with the penalty being "return to country of origin". You don't have to do that now ~ any time in the next 13 years is OK.
Numeric quota limits can always be reduced. Sponsorship rules can be "enhanced". Quarterly reporting can be required ~ with severe penalties for failure to report.
All is not lost even if the Democrats and their running dog lackeys among the pestelential RINOS pass this bill into law.
This doesn't mean I don't want change at present ~ I do, particularly the parts that let the dope dealers, users, transporters and their American business partners off the hook.
” pestilential RINOS “
Well spoken, muawiyah. LOL!
