Not that simple. If this bill passes they won’t be illegal any more. Everyone in the country will be legal the second the bill is signed by Bush.

I know there's a remote chance of not passing, but if everyone calls their congressman and senators well...

They'll still be here under the provisions of a Z-visa, and those provisions may be legislatively revised.

The federal government does this all the time with respect to the standards underwhich it manages federal employees (as an example), and anything else that they can get their hands on that involves money.

I recall the many times my retirement savings were "adjusted" to balance the budget of the United States of America. Although this amounted to a tax I was paying (and you weren't), the courts had spoken many times and the answer was "tough tomatoes sucker" every single time.

Several minor legislative revisions can be appended to the law authorizing the Z-visa to undo all of Teddy Kennedy's mischief. For one, an annual "visa management surcharge" could be set at $10,000 per capita ~ with the penalty being "return to country of origin". You don't have to do that now ~ any time in the next 13 years is OK.

Numeric quota limits can always be reduced. Sponsorship rules can be "enhanced". Quarterly reporting can be required ~ with severe penalties for failure to report.

All is not lost even if the Democrats and their running dog lackeys among the pestelential RINOS pass this bill into law.

This doesn't mean I don't want change at present ~ I do, particularly the parts that let the dope dealers, users, transporters and their American business partners off the hook.
