Ping to the memorial service for a young California hero lost in Iraq.
Bob, the kid was from Torrance. Went to South High, just a stone's throw from where you used to live.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

Rest in peace, brave warrior. Rest in peace.Joe Jr. is going to be buried in Arlington National Cemetary. For those who may be interested, here's a link to a YouTube tribute to Arlington, with Trace Adkins' beautiful song of the same name, "Arlington."

South High in Torrance, a campus I know so well. They used to host the South Bay Kennel Club dog show there every year, and I showed a number of dogs there. I also volunteered at the local Republican Headquarters, just about a mile away from South. I do not know the Anzack family, but I cried for Joe Jr. as if he were my own, because he is, in a way.

Thanks for unlocking this thread. Much appreciated. It is mostly a photo thread, and so is different from the other one.

Thank you so much for devoting this wonderful tribute to this young hero. I had just watched and cried yesterday at the videos below from his services. Reports said that about 5,000 attended the services .. heartening to see folks there in such numbers to honor him, and wrenching sadness at the great, great loss.
God bless this brave warrior and give him joyful eternal peace in God's heaven, for he has already been to Hell. May his family and friends find comfort in his life, his bravery, love of country and for his "brothers" and his true All-American grit and goodness.
Where do we get men and women of such valor and courage?
