His clandestine drive to merge Mexico, America and Canada in a "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" – a North American Union modeled on the European Union – entails the loss of sovereignty and end of the republic as we know it.

The Money Shot.

Now the pieces fit.

[.. Bush-Kennedy immigration bill ..]

That even SOUNDS creepy.. What would make Ted Kennedy sign on to ANYTHING George Bush had his name on?.. Unless it was toxic to the republican party?.. AND George Bush himself..

Pat is 98% and Amen to that 98%.

But here is the 2% that he missed or nearly missed:

While Bush's court appointments, setting aside the Harriet Miers mess, have been superb,

I believe it was the GOP Congress that cleared the path for Roberts and Alito. For sure it was the Senate that squelched Miers.

while his tax cuts have been Reaganite,

His tax cuts percentagewise were minimal, just a few points reduced from Slick Willy's rates. They were no where near the cuts of Reagan who slashed the top tax rate by more than 50%. But Bush likes to tout that they are the biggest tax cuts in history dollarwise. Of course the dollar is worth less and less and Bush made no attempt to present inflation adjusted tax dollar cuts. Percentagewise tells the real story on tax cuts.

while his stand on traditional values is courageous

Bush has a GOP Congress that we worked hard to give him. He had a chance to overturn Row vs. Wade. Even some liberal democrats were starting to acknowledge that Roe vs. Wade would be overturned. In sum, Bush made no real progress on strengthening traditional values. He merely minimized the erosion that can reverse back to a mudslide when the next Administration takes the helm. His accomplishments were on theorder of caretaker rather than remodeler. His accomplishments will never be noted in history books because they are so minimal.

{{Why would they speak so insultingly, with such hostility, of opponents who are concerned citizens? And often, though not exclusively, concerned conservatives?” asks Noonan.}}

Easy. Beacause most of the base is “white” and they can get away with talking to us like that. They would never dream of insulting any of the “politically protected” groups by talking to them this way.

Linda Chavez’ Foot In Mouth Episode.

And if there were any doubt whom Bush had in mind, his surrogate, Linda Chavez, cleared it up:
“Some people just don’t like Mexicans – or anyone else from south of the border. They think Latinos are freeloaders and welfare cheats who are too lazy to learn English. They think Latinos have too many babies and that Latino kids will dumb down our schools. They think Latinos are dirty, diseased, indolent and more prone to criminal behavior. They think Latinos are just too different from us ever to become real Americans. ... “

KEWL KOMMENT! LINDA POO just created one of the more anti-Latino paragraphs I have ever read.

Let’s take a moment to examine what the Lovely Linda said.

And if there were any doubt whom Bush had in mind, his surrogate, Linda Chavez, cleared it up:
“Some people just don’t like Mexicans – or anyone else from south of the border.”

Linda, try to remember that some people can and do learn from experience. Most of the dislike you refer to is due to unhappy experiences with Latin America/Latin Americans. When you finally get around to removing your anti-America blinders, please notice that Americans are less prejudiced than most peoples.

“They think Latinos are freeloaders and welfare cheats who are too lazy to learn English.”

Linda, “They” are right.
1. All too many Latinos are on every welfare giveaway available to them, both legally and in many cases, fraudulently
2. Calling those who cheat the welfare system “welfare cheats” is truth, not racism.
3. Whether they are too lazy to learn English is not the issue.
4. The issue is that they haven’t learned English. Learning, not laziness, is the issue.
5. Using the ‘anti-Latino’ race issue when it is not relevant discredits you, Linda.

“They think Latinos have too many babies and that Latino kids will dumb down our schools.”

School districts with Latino students all too often have the following:
1. Lower test scores.
2. Higher individual student violence levels.
3. Greater gang related violence and drug dealing on campus.
4. Far more pregnant and unmarried students.

“They think Latinos are dirty, diseased, indolent and more prone to criminal behavior.”

1. Neighborhood decline due to illegal immigrant presence is well documented.
2. Refusal to clean up ones home is indolent, Linda.
3. The Latin crime record is clear and undeniable to any but you, Linda.

“They think Latinos are just too different from us ever to become real Americans. ...”

There is ample historic data to support that belief, Linda. Latin America never had the same culture as America. Latinos were never able to benefit from being secure in person or property. They never asserted their Unalienable Rights as did we Americans.

Another thing, Linda – have you ever noticed that in neighborhoods where Latinos are present, that they tend to place iron bars on all openings of their houses? That alone should tell you that Latino cultures do not have a tradition of respecting private property.

In Latino occupied areas, the American idea that one does not have to lock one’s house, is no longer a workable idea.

In my opinion, arguably Linda Chavez has produced a valid list of reasons why we should not allow Latino immigration, legal or otherwise.

Was this her goal? Or did her dogma run over her karma?

I'm sick and tired of these liars and racists accusing us of disliking ALL Latinos. There are TWO groups of Latinos now in America. Latino Americans who have assimilated into our culture and are contributing to our society, and illegals. Latinos who are American citizens are decent people and are NOT the ones we are angry about. It's the Latino illegals.

elPresidente Boosh and his followers are causing much of the anger we are feeling toward illegals, because they are calling us racists and bigots. Making statements like Chavez just made only fuel the fire and could not be further from the truth.

It's NOT now, nor has it EVER been because we dislike or hate Latinos, but traitors like Boosh and Lindsey Graham are causing such animosity between illegals and citizens that it will cause much racial strife and many race riots in the future. This is why Boosh, Graham, Specter, Kennedy, et al need to be impeached and tried as traitors for crimes they have/are committing against American citizens!

A bit off-topic, perhaps, but something I've observed that happened in the fading years of the Clinton administration as well as this one is the near perfect detachment of the political fantasyland within the D.C. Beltway from the clearly stated desires of the population at large. It isn't only Bush's base that objects to this approach to illegal immigration. The relentless media echo-chamber that place becomes seems to insulate all its inhabitants from any real feel of the country's political pulse. Clinton and Bush got where they did by being astute politicians, and here Bush is looking like a tin-eared rookie playing a kazoo in a symphony orchestra. Maddening.

Part of this is the power of organized lobbies - Linda Chavez's voice typifying the sort of thing that resounds within the Beltway like received truth. Part of it is the desire of a politician to leave a "legacy" that is contrary to the political currents outside the Beltway. That is the final result of the seduction of power, the temptation to lead rather than represent and the resulting necessity to use prod and whip when the led don't like where they're going.

It is lock-and-load time? I don't think so (and in any case I won't be sharing a foxhole with Pat Buchanan however correct he is on this topic), but it certainly is time to start stashing ammunition when we hear this sort of stuff from Bush's side of the aisle and "We're going to take things away from you for the common good" from the other side of the aisle. When we see Bush and Kennedy and Clinton all smiling together at the podium we are forced to admit that the problem's a real one.

The Republican party will survive this to the degree to which its adherents manage to reject Bush as its titular leader. I'm sorry to say that because I have a genuine affection for the man, but he's a lost cause now, IMHO, and I'm tired of defending him while hoping otherwise. If the D.C. political echo chamber manages to bully conservative - not just Republican - Congressmembers into acceding to this the Dems will be laughing all the way to the White House. About all we can do at this point is to insist repeatedly that our own representatives know where we stand on the issue. Violence is a last, horrible resort and we should quite rightfully be reluctant to employ it unless forced to in self-defense. Inside the Beltway that's a laughable fantasy. Outside the Beltway it isn't.

What does the empirical evidence show?

Look at California. Was life there better under the gringos, or is it better now under the Latinos/Mexicans? And how does the future look?

California isn't going to remain a part of "America" (at least the America I grew up in) for long. Nor will the rest of Atzlan. When they've destroyed that part of our country, they'll come to destroy the rest of it.

Pat's essay hits another one out of the park. And as usual, he's right, again.

We don't need to bother declaring independence from Bush, since he is a washed up has-been already, and can't lead anybody or anything, anywhere.

Such bull-ticky.

I live in a true multi-culti neighborhood, full of Latinos. When I scoped the place out before I bought my house, I didn't look around to see what color everyone was. I saw that it was a quiet, well-kept place with well-behaved kids.

The Latinos in my neighborhood are tax-paying citizens who work hard for a living, typically blue-collar types who leave early in the morning with several ladders strapped to their pickup trucks. No problem with me, I just don't like the Mexican flag-wavers who think the US is the bad guy, while ignoring the corruption of the Mexican government that holds them back, forcing them to leave for greener pastures.

You never hear of our State Department putting pressure on the corrupt Mexican government to change their ways. Why not? Payola?

Here's the problem. On a plane from Spokane to Vegas, I sat next to a 12 year old hispanic boy traveling to El Paso to get back to Mexico to visit his relatives for the summer. His parents were illegals working in the central Washington apple industry. I asked him when the US plays Mexico in soccer, which team does he want to win. His answer... Mexico. I then asked him if the US ever went to war against Mexico, which country would he want to win... he said "Mexico, I am Mexican". That is the problem!!!! He speaks for a majority of the 12Million illegals and their families. Oh, by the way, he said he has relatives in Las Vegas.. and many in San Diego... surprised?

We can not trust the President and Congress to enforce the laws we have now, what makes us think they will enforce the new laws they create. We already have a law that says we can build a fence.

http://www.house.gov/list/press/ca52_hunter/fence_signing.shtml

How come they haven't got it done yet?
