Bush scolds balking GOP

By Stephen Dinan and Ralph Z. Hallow THE WASHINGTON TIMES Published June 2, 2007

President Bush yesterday renewed his attack on Republicans who oppose his immigration bill, again charging that they are trying to "frighten people" and calling on supporters to rally around the compromise.

The president pleaded with senators to "show courage and resolve" to withstand outrage from voters in their districts.

"It is right to argue for what you believe and recognize that compromise might be necessary to move the bill along. And it is right to take political risk for members of the United States Congress," Mr. Bush said in his second impassioned plea this week on the issue and the second time that he has accused Republicans of trying to scare voters by labeling provisions in the bill an "amnesty."

But many Republican senators say the bill is both an amnesty and unworkable and argue that Mr. Bush's barbs are off the mark.

"I'm not going around frightening people. People are frightened, and they're trying to scare the politicians into voting the way they want them to," said Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, whose opposition to the bill has earned him standing ovations at speeches and events back home during the past week.

Mr. Bush's challenge followed a speech in Georgia on Tuesday that infuriated Republican opponents of his bill. And the renewed challenge came just a day after White House press secretary Tony Snow said the administration was trying to "lower the temperature and get people to talk about basic principles."

The fight is taking a serious toll on Republicans. The Washington Times reported yesterday that small donations to the Republican National Committee have dropped by an estimated 40 percent

My senators are not frightening me. Rather I’m frightening my senators.

Well, folks are talking allright. The question is when will the President start to listen?

Seal the borders, enforce the existing laws!

Then we'll talk

I'm not frighteemed one bit, I know that when the only arguement presented against me is to scream racist, to call me ignorant and act as though I'm out of touch, I've hit a cord.

These tactics are those of a man, that has no platform to stand on.

Frighten people about what? Having to pay the taxes to prop up some 50,000,000 illegal aliens and their familes?

Me? NEVER! I love the idea of dishing out my tax money to pay for some burrito guzzling individual who breaks my nation’s laws, commits identity fraud to work here, who can’t read, won’t learn the English language, and calls me a gringo. Yep, that’s ExACTLY what I want to do with my money! And don’t forget the part about funding his six useless kids who he has taught that the government will give them things if they gripe enough.

President Bush is right! There is nothing to fear! It’s just 2.5-trillion dollars (well, likely more) and taking a wrecking ball to the American culture. Those fade away relative to the many, many advantages of having so mnay illegal immigrants here, such as.... well, hidden advantages????

Shrub:

The fire is gone.

When I hear calls for your impeachment on one of the most important websites that supported your elections sounds like maybe you didn’t live up to some folks expectations.

Best thing to do now is try to do as little damage as possible for the next 18 months or so, then get the hell out of Dodge!

The bloom is off the rose. Way off!

Adios! Buena suerte!

And as an aside, I’ve seen the next generation, the children of these illegals. Seen them waddle around like blimps in southern California, usually looking for a fight or another hole more peripheral in their belt loop. Most of them have dropped out of high school.

If these slugs are doing the work Americans won’t do, I can assure you that they aren’t doing it efficiently. It’s hard to when 72% of your population is overweight like Hispanics are in California.

“Mr. Bush’s challenge followed a speech in Georgia on Tuesday that infuriated Republican opponents of his bill.”

A country song comes to mind:

“The DEVIL went down to Georgia”

Mr. DeMint said the details of the legalization and guest-worker parts of the bill are almost irrelevant because the voters he has talked to don't trust the government on the security parts.

Boy, he got that right.

"show courage and resolve" to withstand outrage from voters in their districts

Curious. - I do believe that the proper label for that concept is:

ignore the stated wishes of the American people who elected you, tell them to go to Hell and then do whatever you want to without further regard

Mr. President I have been an ardent supporter since you started your run for the presidency.
Over the years I have seen you turn your back on conservative causes.
High spending.
Illegal immigration.
Kissing the Chi-coms butts.
Ignoring Iran and Syria while they kill our soldiers.
Etc. but still i supported you.

This though is the last straw.
Illegal immigration and your support for amnesty is just plain wrong.
I don’t give a damn if you think I am now a bad republican. I resent you trying to have me pay for illegals. Just so a few companies can have cheap labor.
Round up ALL ILLEGALS and send them packing.
You now are working for a legacy. Well in my opinion you just flushed your legacy down the toilet.
