Who the hell is Jeff? I can also do without the sarcasm, thank you... I was respectful when offering my suggestions and ideas, and I expect the same from you. Heck, I even apologized when you accused me of calling you Un-American... But, no, you just can’t resist being a smart ass, can you?
If you have solutions BESIDES AMNESTY I’d be glad to hear your ideas. It’s no wonder there can’t be any real discussion or education on this topic when people like you - spouting your condescending and snide remarks — are the ones pushing for it...
As for the 14th Amendment — there’s that ‘without due process of law’ clause. I assume you are talking about this part of it... I never said there wouldn’t be ‘due process’. There would have to be proof that the person either used fraudulent ID, or was illegally employed. Do we allow those who commit ID Theft to keep the profits of their illegal activities???
As for property rights — what in the world does requiring identification for tenants have to do with property rights? As far as the banks and what checks they can take — how is it that U.S. citizens can be denied accounts without proper identification but illegal immigrants can open these same accounts without any such documentation? How can grocery stores and check cashing places process these checks without proper identification? Perhaps a law regulating the banks is not appropriate or legal, but at the very least someone should be calling attention to these situations and demanding answers as to how these people are managing to get by — it’s not as easy for citizens as it is for these people...
As far as the SS notification deal — how much do we spend on countering fraud already? If duplicate tax returns are filed under a social security number the IRS must investigate this anyway — how do they do this without notifying us anyway? I would personally like to be notified if someone is fraudulently using my SS# as I would like to nip the problem in the bud. You know this could’ve been avoided if they would’ve obeyed the law that said the Social Security card could never be used as identification.
As far as employers being mentioned in the Constitution — you’re right, they aren’t, but there are laws already on the books regarding fines for employers hiring illegals. Merely increasing the fine to cover the cost of processing and deportation of KNOWN illegals (i.e. ones with no documentation) that these employers aided and abetted is not like passing a new law. Presumably the laws already on the books for the last 25 years are Constitutional...
You seem to be advocating nothing but Amnesty, and using scare tactics, disrespect and intimidation to silence your opposition... Seems like you and our elected officials are cut from the same cloth in that manner...
Don’t let the asshats get to you. I read your #625 and thought it was a great post. I’m sick of the “amnesty is the only option” types myself, and that includes GWB.
Did I send this to you, I am truly sorry, its been a wild night trying to respond to all these posts. BUT ALSO A TON OF FUN TOO.
None of the sarcasm was meant for you because, as far as I`m concerned, you don`t deserve any. You are fun to toss ideas around with and I`m sorry
Excellent posts. Neverhillorat has no positive suggestions, just juvenille comments. Other FReepers appreciate real suggestions, like the ones you offered.
