There has been a sharp decline in contributions from RNC phone solicitations, another fired staffer said, reporting that many former donors flatly refuse to give more money to the national party if Mr. Bush and the Senate Republicans insist on supporting what these angry contributors call "amnesty" for illegal aliens. "Everyone donor in 50 states we reached has been angry, especially in the last month and a half, and for 99 percent of them immigration is the No. 1 issue," said the former employee.

Amen, Brother!
” Switch sides?
Like Bush already has? “
Yeah, not much of a change, I grant you.
Agreed, they called me last week and that poor girl from the RNC couldn’t wait to get off the phone. She did admit that most of the refusals were from long time donors like me
who were pissed about the immigration sell-out. Mr Bush is selling us out, the Senate is going to get behind the bill and act like the pansies they have become. I contacted my representative Jeb Hensarling tonight and told him that Kay Bailey is sounding like the next Senator to fold up on this pos bill. His office said that She might not but they didn’t sound convincing. Folks keep those phones ringing and don’t let up. Tell them if they fold on their base that they will lose their jobs.
Laura was great.
BTW, Huckabee is for amnesty. My guess is he supports this bill.
Is there any good reason why people who have been illegally in this country for some period of time should be eligible for any visa or other status that is not available to those who have applied to immigrate legally but didn't sneak in?
Is there any good reason why the government harasses those seeking to immigrate legally and makes them wait years, while illegals can come here immediately?
Is there any reason to believe that immigration needs could not be met by those seeking to immigrate legally if the government would actually let those people come in? Is there any reason to believe that such people are not of at least as good character as those who presently sneak in?
Is there any reason to believe that rewarding criminal behavior will not result in more criminal behavior?
If campaign contributions were limited to, say, $1000 per identified, registered voter, per candidate, within that candidate's potential constituency, and $5000 to the party, then term limits would probably be unnecessary.
On the other hand, it's exceptionally rare that a legislator doesn't get their loyalties upside-down pretty quickly once they get to Washington.
Whammo!
Your opinions on this issue make a lot of sense to me.
I have nothing to add to them, just saying thanks
for getting past the emotion and thinking it through
to its conclusion.
What the solution is I do not know, but what it isnt is handing the country to the left in a fit of displeasure.

Killing the beast by cutting off it’s food supply? I LIKE IT!
Ping.
I know I gave them an ear full when they called me the other.
The question I am talking about is the kick them out stuff.
Now, as to the others, say Prop. 187 in California, the courts did the kicking. Don`t like that at all, but, it`s that nasty real world again. There is a way that Congress can add certain language to some of these immigration laws, but, once again, we are going to have to give to get. And when your stuck on no compromise, you usually don`t get much either.
This is just a silly comment. We don't need any new laws - the constitution itself requires the executive (i.e. President Bush) to protect the borders from invasion. Additional statutes have been created over the years but Bush has not only stopped enforcing them but has actually encouraged more to cross over.
No one here is has advocated roundups. All that has to be done is to build a fence and imprison employers that employ illegals.
I know you think you are being some sort of party soldier and all, but in reality, you are just a party cheerleader and enabler. What you are doing is moving the GOP further and further to the left.
Forget Hillary, ok. We have our own problems to address. The nation survived 8 years of Bill Clinton and it would survive even 8 years of Hillary. The nation won't survive the balkanization that will happen if this amnesty bill is passed.
You know what? I don’t think you’re wrong about that. There was a coup of some sort.
Question is, will the most vitriolic Bush Bots agree that they treated those who saw this coming that long ago unfairly? (I wasn’t one of the clairvoyant that long ago. But I watched them take a real beating.)
We already did that. We all voted for Bush.
Never said they were less suitable, in fact must have skills and are very suitable as future Americans. I`m sure those Doctors moving to America from Norway would love to work the Strawberry fields for a few years. By the way, do you want that as a requirment?
Don’t worry. At first read, I thought the same thing. What he’s saying is the *GOP* might misdirect it.
(I think.)
