I don`t understand the President on this, but, it`s not going to be be decided now anyway. It`s going to take the 08 election, at all federal levels.

RATS WIN! RATS WIN! RATS WIN! TAXES UP! TROOPS CUT OFF! REGULATIONS RAISE! GUNS GONE!

Wrong. Pubbies get the message and find their spine and defeat this amnesty bill.

This just in: Bush is NOT running in 08!

If he were, he wouldn't be pushing this bill.

Notice he didn't attempt to push this on us even when at the height of his popularity after 9-11 while he still had to run for re-election. No, it's only when he's through running for political office that he has the "guts" to attempt it. And apparently it's okay if he takes the whole party down with him.

There has been a sharp decline in contributions from RNC phone solicitations, another fired staffer said, reporting that many former donors flatly refuse to give more money to the national party if Mr. Bush and the Senate Republicans insist on supporting what these angry contributors call "amnesty" for illegal aliens.

Well, well. So it's *not* just me - and a hundred or so other FReepers who have also spoken of cutting off the RNC, donation-wise. Good... I hope that the RNC is sticking pins in its George W. Bush voodoo doll by now.

Darn those principled Conservatives, anyway! (Hey, Rudy... ask not for whom the bell tolls...).

He has always been for a comprehensive immigration bill, from day one.

“Re post #201 — well said.”

Thanks...I wish I didn’t have such a font of material at my fingertips.

"Any assertion that overall donations have gone down is patently false," Miss Schmitt said. "We continue to out raise our Democrat counterpart by a substantive amount (nearly double)."

Last year, my solicitations totaled $164,000, and this year the way they were running for the first four months, they would total $100,000 by the end of 2007

I have no doubt that their donations are dropping, but 164K down to 100K doesn't sound unusual given that this year is not an election year.

Oh definitely not. I haven't given to the RNC for years now. Their fund requests are one of my few delights since it gives me the opportunity to tell them EXACTLY why I'm not giving them any money.

But, like Charlie Brown and the football, they keep coming back.

Keep in mind those two items are only the start.

Step 3 is to require all criminal trials involving illegal aliens to be adjudicated in U.S. military tribunals. In essence, they should be treated as prisoners of war rather than common criminals.

The Republicans abandoned my state (Maryland) and left us with O’Malley as Governor. They never pay a visit here when they campaign. The next money I send to a Republican wil go to Fred Thompson, It will go to Fred not the RNC, it will be in cash and there wont be a return address.

I have not given them a penny. I will not give them a Penny if we vote in Gulliani or Romney. NONE.

And he didn’t push for it until after he won re-election.

Which is what I said. You know that. I know that. Don’t play games.

NO bill, no major late night speech, NOTHING done to advance amnesty (other then not enforcing the law) until AFTER 2004.

I send them back with my donation form and everything. Thanks for picking up the postage, RNC! They have a bunch of rotating Chairmen these days also...it seems like there is a new one each quarter.

” ...it`s not going to be be decided now anyway. It`s going to take the 08 election, at all federal levels. “

No, neverhillorat, the illegal amnesty question will be decided for the worse now, if it’s decided now. If this bill passes the amnesty part of it is irreversible. It will only attract more illegals to come to the U.S. They’re not going to come back in 3 years and say “you’re not legal anymore”. If it passes now, we’re screwed. The only chance Republicans have is to kill this bill right now. Otherwise, they’re out of power for the next two generations.

They have to secure the border before the issue of the existing illegals is addressed.

I see what you’re saying. It’s pretty common among the Republican faithful right now. But let me say this:

Conservatives are not necessarily Republicans.

If the Republicans screw Conservatives with this bill, they will lose a good chunk of their base. People will sit home or support 3rd Party candidates. This is a deadly game Republicans are playing with Conservatives right now.

I’m not in the mood to play nice and get along.
