Well, in a Kansas trial court, Solomon rules that without a contract the twins have no father.

I bet this wouldn't protect the guy if the bitch decided she wanted him to pay child support. It has happened to other sperm donors.

Oh and the author can be added to the list of idiots.

First there's this:

It would be a good idea for Americans likewise to abolish anonymous sperm donation.

Presumably she means the Federal Government should do the abolishing. But then there's this:

we’ll need something much more radical than government regulation.

Well, which is it Kay?

But if she sued Mr. Sperm Donor for child support, the judge would have no problem awarding her 150% of his income.

The mother says that she always intended to raise the kids alone and never wanted the friend involved in their lives.

How long will it be before she changes her mind and sticks the "unwanted" father with 18 years of child support bills? Men should be very wary about donating sperm to anyone not married to them.

Well, in a Kansas trial court, Solomon rules that without a contract the twins have no father. The man who provided half of the children’s genetic material has no more relationship to them than does the taxi driver who rushed their mother to the hospital when she went into labor. Now, assuming that the supreme court upholds the decision, the state of Kansas can celebrate adding two more fatherless children to its population, and Mom can rejoice by dressing her twins in bibs—available over the Internet—proudly announcing: my daddy’s name is donor.

Anyone want to bet that he won't get soaked for child support even though he has no 'father's rights'?

You are absolutely right. At the beginning of the article, I thought this thing could go either way.

She wants to raise the kids alone....until she has a bill she can’t pay, then she’ll sue for child support.

Bizarre that sexual equality means the woman makes all the decisions about about the kids and man just has to legally do what she says....

I agree that anonymous sperm donation should be banned. I think it goes deeper though. I think everyone should have a type of ownership and responsibility for their genetic material.

I agree in principle, but in actual practice, there could be quite a black market for sperm, so I don’t think you could actually enforce a “ban”.

What you could enforce is the right of children to have access to their genetic identity ... to eliminate all the secrecy.

Good grief, what a mess :(

Why not adopt? There are so many children that want and need a stable home. I’m talking about heterosexual women and married couples, btw. The only fly in that ointment is that a birth mother can change her mind within a certain time frame, causing much anguish.

Yes, a two parent home is the ideal, but there a lot of kids who will be ruined by the foster system in this country. A single woman with a stabile life is preferable to shuffling the poor kid from home to home. Jmo....

Look at all the excitement I avoided by going the "boring" route.

I met a great guy - not "Mr. Perfect" or "Profession with a Man Attached" - but a great guy.

We fell in love.

We got married in a church.

We prayed hard for babies. When babies didn't come, we considered adoption or fostering. We prayed some more for guidance.

God gave us babies.

No "At Home DNA Test Kits," no on-line registries, no "Is this my father?"

Wow! My life is dull...dull...dull! (/sarcasm)

She will sue for child support the moment the guy wins the PowerBall lottery.

LOL!

Yes, there was lots of that, too...!

Conception wasn't the issue; carrying past the first trimester was. Then, finally, our first successful delivery. Then another...and another....

At this point, we had stopped praying for babies! :)

I’m glad you appreciated the joke.

But note — you’re lucky/blessed. For some it’s not that easy.
