Maybe if they were to put a liberal spin on things, people would tune in, in droves? Perhaps just up the anti-American, Democratic and anti-war spiel? < /sarcasm>
Liberal Radio failed miserably, but conservative talk shows dominate. Conservative programs don’t require a cash flow to keep them going, they generate revenue.
Fox USED to understand this, but sadly they are drinking the same Kool-aide that their competition is selling. As amazing as it sounds, I don’t think that the news stations or journalists in general have a clue of who America is.

My cat kinda does that when she is petted, but when my cat does it, it's cute and perky.
If The Anchor were to do it, it would just be sad and desperate.
