DAMASCUS: Syria’s Pre-sident Bashar al-Assad has won a second seven-year mandate after netting 97% of the vote in a referendum boycotted by the opposition, officials announced yesterday. Interior Minister Bassam Abdel Majid said Assad, 41, won a massive 97.62% in Sunday’s referendum, with some 11.19mn Syrians taking part, or almost 96% of those eligible. In a referendum in which Assad, who has resisted Western pressure to reform Syria, was the sole candidate, “no” voters numbered almost 20,000 and some 250,000 ballots were void, he said.

Oh, thank God. I've been on pins and needles wondering if his opponent might score an upset.

Yipee! Democracy! Those darn Baathists sure are popular! However Saddam proved to be more popular... after all he won 100% of the vote.

You did everything right, but you don't need to inlclude all sources in the second line. For your future convenience:
Gulf-Times.com (Various reports, AP, ABC)
It's enough to mention the direct source you got it from. In this case Gulf-Times.

The date 30 May, 2007 is enough. No need for exact time or time-zone.

Was Jimmy Carter there to oversee the election? With modern electronics, he can probably do it from the comfort of his home while Rosalyn brings him sweet-tea.

I’m sure Jimmy helped out...after all, he and Boy Assad are members of the Anti-Semite Society (A.S.S.)

"“no” voters numbered almost 20,000 and some 250,000 ballots were void, he said." I think they made a mistake. They obviously meant: "Maybe Gore" voters numbered almost 20,000 and some 250,000 ballots must have been Gore in one way or another, he said"

Welcome aboard. Hope your cruise is both enjoyable as well as informative.
The little lion is in like flinn for a long time. No one is going to rub him out. To many people on the money, and therefore to easy to get killed if one does not go along with the regime. The eyes of the Mukhabarat are everywhere.

And I was expecting,....... well I guess I wasn’t expecting anyone else to win.
The funny part is there are 18 millions wanking Syrians who dunked their dirty digits in purple ink for nothing.
They all could have stayed home and sipped mint tea with Joe Wilson’s ghost.

Yeah the did. But it was odds on how many voters casting “no” ballots saw the next sunrise.
