And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

The only position with any lasting weight.

What we talk about a lot is whether it is morally right to have a child, given what we know about the state of planet.

My friends and I talk about how people like us in developed countries are vacuuming up the world's resources. We belong to the 10 per cent of the world population who consume 90 per cent of the Earth's resources. We talk about global overpopulation. We talk about children in other countries who don't have enough to eat or access to medicine

Lady, you'd be doing us all a favor if you didn't "breed". There are plenty of leftwing twits like you and your friends on the planet today. If you could forego creating the next generation, the rest of us would be quite thankful.

The culprits, according to the article, are female education and fiscal autonomy, secularization, birth control, Sex and the City, a heightened desire for personal freedom and the angst that comes of bringing a child into a dangerous world. "In a hyper-individualistic, ultra-commodified culture like ours, motherhood, for better and worse, is less a fact of life than just another lifestyle choice."

The REAL culprits: High taxes, socialism, banning of Christianity...

Oh brother, I thought the article was OK up till this point. Hey lady, don't have kids. You are apparently live in a fantasy world and thus would screw it up.

Yup, the state of the planet is really going to improve if you don’t have a kid.

Maybe you should start a university that teaches selfish unsupportable rationalizations to support your simple desire to do whatever it is you want to.

Isn’t government supported child-care really a way to make women who have less money than you take care of your kids?

>"You don't have to read much between the lines to discern the big class bias behind all of this hand wringing. Stats actually show that young, unmarried, uneducated, non-professional women are doing just fine in the baby department. The elitist worry seems to be that the "right" kind of woman is forgoing kids."

Idiocracy I tells ya! Idiocracy!

Check out the Mike Judge movie Idiocracy, it has what plants crave.

Anyone who refers to having children as “breeding” should not have children.

IMHO.

Actually, I agree with this woman. She doesn’t seem to have the qualities of sacrifice, good cheer, and loving kindness that you need to be a good mom. She’s overwhelmed with guilt about her own affluence, and envious of the working world of men, which I can attest by personal experience can be an exhausting, numbing, soul-crushing journey. If she wants that, good for her. If her focus is money and power, for God’s sake, don’t a drag a child through it.

Speaking for myself, my marriage and my family have created a kind of joyfulness and serenity that I couldn’t have even imagined when I was single. The shame of this whole experience is that two of my three children were killed by abortionists, so my growth as a man was stunted for many years before I realized that life really isn’t about you, it’s about everyone else, and it’s especially about my wife and my son.

By all means, though, if you can’t elevate yourself above money and selfishness, don’t have kids.

Yeah, she’ll be singing that song until 40 or so and then she will demand that the government pay for her wildly expensive fertility treatments.

If America wants Xers to breed, why can’t you get a home in some areas for less than $700,000, and why are states introducing a two tiered property tax system that punishes the young?

What she wrote: What we talk about a lot is whether it is morally right to have a child, given what we know about the state of planet.

What she meant: What we talk about a lot is whether it is morally right easy enough for me to have a child, given what we know about the state of planet I think I know, and how much of my precious time and money it would suck away.

It's laughable to hear a liberal talk about morals. Their morality is entirely artificial, based on what fits their particular plans at the moment.

If that's where you and your childless friends are mentally, please, I beg you.. DON'T BREED! You are too ill informed and too riddled with indiotic liberal guilt to remotely be a responsible parent.
