You know I worked tirelssly to get Chambliss elected and Gov. Barnes as well. I worked on the Bush campaign also. Now, Sen. Chambliss has become a turncoat. I can assure you he never voiced any sort of support amnesty when he was a candidate. I actually don’t blame Pres. Bush who was quite honest about his opinions. I voted for Pres. Bush because he was better than Kerry-lesser of two evils. Now I don’t see the point in working my butt off to get these Repubs elected when as soon as they get to Washington, they cozy up with Democrats and pass crap like the hate crime bill and the immigration bill. Oh by the way,What have you done to help Repubs get elected? What a snotty tone your post has-of course I think this means you belong in the Repub Party which is run by snotty elitist. Good luck to you.
The quickest way to know if the left is worried about an issue is to measure the scale of high tone over the top rhetoric on this site. LOL.
>> Why??? Let them keep the GOP which has become corrupted and is a far cry from being conservative. Start a fresh new conservative party. <<
Allegiance to a party above nation, issues or ideals is deadly to democracy. On the other hand, starting a new party is insane. If you can’t win 50% of the GOP in primaries, how can you ever hope to win a general election? I’m not calling for suicidal Pharisaicism; I’m just saying we have to recognize our enemies, whether they are Democrat or Republican.
And Lindsay Graham is an enemy.
>> Yes and they are turning independents off to the party as well...sad thing is even we don’t know who the plants are. <<
That’s the good news. As if the nuclear-option debate didn’t make things clear enough (I was, at the time, hoping against hope that some of the Gang of 7 truly were simply fighting for the Senate’s prestige), this immigration debate is a perfect presentation of the indefensible, inside-the-beltway, lobbyist’s crony’s versus true Americans. And looky, looky, looky who’s selling out America: the gang of 7.
I warned Pete what was going to happen, but he hasn't listened, so he can suffer the consequences! They all can. They've got to go before they completely destroy America!
>> RE-ELECT NO ONE ! ! ! ! <<
NO, you fool!* If you turn away the champions who depend on our support, all you will have left is the enemy!
We must reward the Sen. Coburns and Inhofes and Enzis of the world with the fiercest support imaginable!!!
(*meant in the same vein as Peter being called ‘Satan,’ which is to say, merely a rebuke, not a condemnation.)
>> That said, we need to elect more conservatives. Rid ourselves of RINOs in the primaries. But letting the Dims gain veto-proof majorities will never be in our interest as conservatives. <<
I did specifically mention primaries in the original post. I left it ambiguous, so it’d be to each person’s conscience whether to oppose a RINO in a general. I’d have a pretty hard time fathoming voting for most Democrats in a general, and sitting out the vote is giving a Democrat half a vote. OTOH, I would vote for Josef Stalin or Idi Amin against Chafee, Specter or Graham.
Would a Republican Congress have fought against Bush on immigration? I’m not so sure.
They don’t need veto proof majorities. Weak Repubs or more than happy to engage in bi-paritisanship etc. How can I vote Isakson or Chambliss again? This is what they expect. They can thwart the will of the American people and get re-elected because the other guy (Dem) is worse.
I’m going to rattle your political cage for a moment, here, by suggesting to you something so unintuitive-but-true that it may simply leave you speechless.
Citizens are more free to do their own thing — including living debauched and immoral lives — when hardline Conservatives rule the roost.
If you want government to leave you the hell alone as much as possible, vote for the hardline Conservative every opportunity you get.
Bump for the “leave me the hell alone” conservatives. I’m waiting for a Republican to actually embrace this idea. It seems the Libertarians are much better at it, but can’t get themselves elected.
My solution is this: No one on the public dole should be allowed a vote. NOBODY. That includes those who use Social Security at the detriment of our society because they “deserve” it.
I say this to them all....Go ahead, you’re entitled to have the rest of us support your lifestyle, but you really shouldn’t be allowed to vote in more perks for yourself.
That would be the end of the Democrat party.
If I may...country above party.
Finally, Grassley said something.
A pot-smoking libertarian whack-job??
>> If I may...country above party. <<
You’re referring to the war, I’m referring to the strategy. Other than that, yes, of course!
Here, HERE!!!
Honestly, I dont see how it can get much worse. Taxes are going up, Amnesty is here, Repubs are demanding a pullout date in Iraq, hate crime/anti-free speech is soon to the law which will allow police to arrest Christians who speak out against homosexuality.
Do you really think those things won’t happen under Hillary or any other RAT? Add in a total destruction of the economy under “to each according to his need....”
And there lies the problem. Because we can't afford the short run, we are guaranteed not to be able to afford the long run.
