We hosted an Italian exchange student when I lived at home, he is from Torino (Turin). I’ve often wondered what Paris is like and after this moment I decided I have no desire to ever go there.
We were driving on the Dan Ryan somewhere between the Skyway and Comiskey Park towards downtown Chicago when he commented “Wow. This reminds me so much of Paris”. I said “Huh? We’re in one of the worst crime areas in the entire US!” then proceeded to tell him about the drugs, mugging, murders, shootings, and all the things that are normal parts of life on the South Side of Chicago. His answer? “Oh. Then it *IS* just like Paris”. No thank you I have no desire to go to Paris.

I spent Memorial Day afternoon at a bbq with a couple of lib teachers who couldnt stop telling stories about how great it is in Europe.
I just wish people like that would just move there if they like it so much instead of making America into Europe-light. I believe that is precisely why we fought for our independence so that we didn't have to live like them. I cannot understand how a sane person can even come to the conclusion that life is better in Europe.

I guess it depends on where you go in Paris. My niece was just there a few weeks ago and loved it. But I would never want to live there.

Thanks for noticing! At this point I don’t care which is which ... frankly Thompson has more name recognition value.
I can see it now ... 2008-2016 President Thompson 2016-2024 President Hunter

What really angers me is that we are making immigration policy based on the countries “lust” for cheap labor. Our forefathers would be spinning in their graves.

We were at the home of a friend, someone who Mr.FF used to work with and is still a good friend of his. The jerk was the friend’s b-i-l. Made things difficult.

DUmmies have no valid points...only empty bumper-sticker slogan inspired rhetoric.

I was told by my London friends that downtown Paris and within sight of the Eiffel Tower is OK. Get away from that and it’s rather unsavory areas. What we see on the news here with the Muslim immigrants setting fires is a small portion of what goes on there apparently.

May I suggest you go to my "in forum" section of my about page?
I was chasing the folks who were dealing the white crystalline products of South America over 20 years ago. Slickwilly came up on the radar long before Bush I became President.
Really, I do suggest you read my posts.

I hope you told them that without the assistance of Patton’s “Magnificent Bastards,” those Europeans they wish to emulate would all be speaking German now.

Probably like any other big city. A few miles out of any big city you find the scavengers.

yup ,.. the tidal wave of illegals destroyed my livelihood
( unless , of course , I wanna play the game like other contrctors ,.. but when something goes horribly wrong on one of their jobsites , they’re either “hung-out-to-dry” or flee if they’re unmarried with no tangible assets )
