In the Summer of 1989 Kennedy and fellow Senator Chris Dodd were having lunch at famous Washington D.C. restaurant La Brasserie. Kennedy requested the attendance of waitress Carla Gaviglio. According to the Washington Times "When she put in an appearance in their private retreat - 'The Teddy Kennedy Fun Room' - the Massachusetts senator picked her up and heaved her onto a table. The crystal candlesticks and champagne glasses shattered as he grabbed her again and flung her on top of Dodd.
"Then Kennedy threw himself on top of the woman. The waitress implored Mr. Kennedy to 'Get off me!'
"Another waitress entered to find 'things all tipped over and Kennedy was on top, [the waitress] was in the middle and Dodd was on the bottom.' At that point the sandwich was disassembled."
Disclaimer: I am not an attorney, and never would be an attorney, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
“Senatorial Privilege”, try getting it a Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble. It’s a great book on the sins of Ted Kennedy. The Kennedy machine tried to stop this book from coming out in print and couldn’t. Great chronicle of all his sins, can’t say much more.
A comprehensive article about Ted K. reviewing the circumstances about this sexual attack, and others, and about the alcoholism and family connections protecting him (from GQ).
It’s incredible to me that such an animal as this wields such power in our government. And so many people are supporters of him in spite of knowing about his exploits or they deny that it’s the truth.
I have heard that he has since married and his wife has got him on the straight and narrow ... lost the weight, no more drinking or carousing. How much does anyone know about the truth of these statements?
And now Chris Dodd is running for president.
Very good. I just read 75% of it. THanks
And I've read a 12(?)-page minimum account of the Tragedy at Chappaquiddick Island on that sad night.
A terrible and needless act of stupidity that has never had True Justice brought to bear on those responsible.
It’s 17 pages of information all about Ted.
Thank you for posting the story to begin with. I hadn’t heard about it.
“I realize you have a source for this text, but it is arguably libelous.”
The story appeared in the Washingtonian Mag.
LOL, can you do one of him sitting in a lifeguards chair?
I understand. This just reminds me of the C&D thread from a couple weeks ago — re: Jim R and the DNC. Funny.
After all, libel means to defame or harm ones reputation in print.
One has to have a reputation that’s ‘good’ in order to suffer harm or defamation. As a public figure of questionable repute and history, loud defenders notwithstanding, Kennedy would have a tough time making a libel case, but an easy time grandstanding for one.
smartaleck; plains drifter; lonesome in massachussets; donna; itisareligionofpeace— Please see my post above this one.
I wouldn’t worry too much about libel and Ted Kennedy!
I saw Dodd’s press conference about Ted’s passing and couldn’t help but think of the sandwich. ::HURL::

I did but I also remember reading it here too.
Is this the first time you have heard of this story?
