A group of Gold Star Family members, who have lost a son or daughter in the war on terrorism, today issued the following statement in response to Cindy Sheehans announcement that she is halting her public anti-war protests. For more information log on to: www.MoveAmericaForward.org
We are very pleased to hear that Cindy Sheehan is ending her disgraceful campaign to discredit the United States military and the heroic men and women in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan. We sympathize with the shared pain from losing a child in the war effort, however, we cannot excuse the fact that Cindy has taken the wrong turn at every corner in assigning blame for the loss of her heroic son, Casey.
Casey Sheehan was a proud member of the United States Armed Forces. He believed in serving his country faithfully and volunteered for the duty assignment that led to his death at the hands of Islamic extremists. He should have been the example followed by Cindy Sheehan. Instead, she chose to associate with the most virulent anti-American elements in the United States and abroad.
Throughout her public demonstrations, Cindy Sheehan has repeatedly been dismissive of the majority of Gold Star Parents who disagree with her stance on the war. Cindy Sheehan does not speak for us, nor thankfully does she speak for most Americans. Its time for Cindy to go home and put her life back together and realize just how fortunate she is to live in the greatest nation on earth.
We are saddened that Cindys withdrawal from political activities is because she was disappointed that more Americans did not accept her distorted worldview that America is the blame for all of the ills of the world. Perhaps off the world stage, she will be able to regain her bearings and see that her son and America were serving the cause of freedom in the world and security at home. God Bless the United States of America, and may God help Cindy Sheehan to heal from the pain and bitterness that have consumed her.

I wish that would be the case, but I think Cindy is going to be too busy trying to find another cause (angle) that will capitalize on the name recognition she destroyed everything in her life to attain. I don't doubt that she loved her son, but she seems to love media attention too, and I do doubt that she'll be satisfied with fifteen minutes - no matter how inglorious.
What a beautiful letter from those families. God bless them and those they lost. I wonder if Cindy will realize how much damage she has done to herself? She was used as a pawn and someone told someone else to in essence “fire her.” What a foolish woman she was being. She let herself be used and to have her photo taken with Chavez...well, enough said. God bless all you Gold Star families. Your loved ones were heroes and we thank you for them although we would have preferred for them to come home.
I THINK she had her photo taken with Chavez or was it jesseee jackson? Can’t remember.
Cindy Sheehan didn’t know that Stalin and Mao were dead, so she settled for the best she could find on short notice.
I've seen this before.
Watch for her to hit the talk show circuit, watch for a new book deal.
I hope I'm wrong.
CINDY SHEEHAN GIVES UP ALL THAT PROTESTING
She made a speech over the weekend about going back to where she used to be and try to recuperate her normal life.
She also wrote in her daily diary that she publishes on Daily Kos that she just can’t make the sacrificies anymore. It appears that she has finally realized that one person cannot change a culture or a society or even (probably) the people who live down the block.
In fact, adults can’t change anybody unless — and this is a really big “unless” — the person wanting to make the change has control of the environment of the person they want to change.
Did I say that right?
Think about it. We were able to change our developing children because we had control of their environment.
What did Sheehan have control of? George Bush, the president. Nope.
Just try to get into the White House to have a chat with him. Not going to happen. And if you think you can ride over the Andrews Air Force Base with the dream of boarding Air Force One so you could bend his ear on a long flight, think twice about that one too.
But change the president’s behavior? Not going to happen. Change his point of view. Not likely either.
Or how about congress? You are definitely going to zero out on that one too.
What could Sheehan possibly do to get the attention of anybody in congress? And even if she did, how would she motiviate them to make any changes?
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have enough troubles doing that and they each have great big political sticks to wave around. Sheehan doesn’t have any political clout.
My personal opinion is that she is probably stepping down because she can’t draw a crowd anymore. And when you’re in the protest business, if you can’t draw a crowd you can’t get funding.
Bread and butter decisions overshadow ideologies.
Sheehan realized a critical point of view — the far far left is just as out of touch as the far far right. Ideologies don’t live on the extremes of the political — oxygen deprivation, I guess.
I hope that Sheehan is going home to finish her grief work at the loss of her son Casey. For that I will keep her in my prayers.
She is more fragile than she appears to be.
I just hope that I don’t see her on the talk show circuit. That would be a channel-changing moment, for sure. She already tried a book, didn’t she? Doubt if it sold 1,000 copies.
Somebody sold this woman a bill of goods and they dumped her when she was no longer useful to them. Problem is, her naivete was the cake and venom was the frosting. Not a good combination.
I think Soros et. al are no longer funding her organization and travel. She was just a useful idiot.
Thanks for the ping Impeach. Good to see her gone but like a bad penny, she will probably pop up again!
Yeppers! Don’t know what it will be, but SOMETHING will lure her back out from retirement, eventually. She craves attention and her long junket of events have always gone to her head.
Just like a Babs Farewell Tour, a Jimmy Carter book interview, a chronic rash, a seasonal allergy, a Micheal Moore movie, an Al Gore speech, teenage acne...some things will always manage to resurface - and some just won’t ever go away. (Right, Rosie O.???)
Thanks for the ping!
Haha! You nailed it.
Both of them.
