Chicago Priest Calls for Murder of Gun Shop Owner

Nobody expected Saturday's Operation PUSH protest at Chuck's Gun Shop & Range to be anything other than a circus of the bizarre. However, nobody anticipated that an address by a Chicago priest would include a call for the murder of a suburban gun shop owner and legislators who oppose gun control.

During an address at an anti-gun rally in front of Chuck's, Rev. Michael Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina's Church, exhorted the crowd to "drag" shop owner, John Riggio, from his shop "like a rat" and "snuff" him. Rev. Pfleger went on to tell the crowd that legislators that vote against gun control legislation should be "snuffed"...

I wish someone would explain something to me.

All these liberals and "activists" are pro-abortion and pro-gay. Yet they are also pro-Farrakhan, who is anti-abortion and anti-gay (last I heard he blamed homosexuality on "Hollywood Jews" and advocated killing gays). Yet these liberal activists see no contradiction whatsoever in supporting Farrakhan and pro-abort/pro-gay politicians simultaneously. What's going on here?

So far as I know, Jesse Jackson, who criticizes Republicans for "homophobia," has no problem with Farrakhan advocating killing gays. Rev. Ben Chavis, one-time head of the NAACP, actually bawled out "reactionary" Blacks who opposed such things as homosexuality, yet he later went out and converted to Farrakhan's cult and now supposedly has no trouble with the idea of killing the people he once championed.

So what's the deal here? Why is Farrakhan "kosher" (pardon the expression!) for liberal pro-gay/pro-abort politicians who pillory conservatives for far less than Farrakhan is guilty of?

Is it the "ethnic Calvinism" thing, wherein non-whites are "the elect" and all their positions are automatically granted honorary leftist status ("respect the otherness of their culture, you bigoted chauvinist!"), even if those positions are identical to those of "fascist" conservatives?

And what about Farrakhan's conservative fans (and he does have some) like the late Jude Thaddaeus Wanniski (sp?)? Does that make them "comrades" with his liberal apologists? Would Farrakhan mediate between his supporters on the Left and on the Right?

Something tells me that by the standards of today's Left, WWII-era fascist Japan was more politically correct than the USSR!

However, when the previous Abp. tried to reassign him to another parish a couple of years ago he pitched a huge fit and made so much trouble (along with demonstations by his parishioners, etc.) that they left him where he was.

There was a time that such behavior would have earned him a monastery cell, most likely in Thule, Greenland; Antarctica; or the Roman catacombs.
