'SERIOUS tensions" exist between U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's Washington-based presidential campaign staff and those working on her campaign in New York, Democratic insiders say.
"Her New York crew is fighting like hell with her D.C. folks, and it's worse than the normal stuff, real serious tensions," said a Democratic Party source. "The New York folks are the ones who got her elected to begin with. They've done it and know what to do. The D.C. folks are the 'geniuses' who do 'national elections' and think everyone here is a rube.
"The Washington types hold meeting after meeting and then send a group of fatheaded 27-year-olds to do events in New York, and they wind up fighting with her staff here," continued the source, who is in day-to-day contact with party activities.
The source said the tensions exploded at Clinton's endorsement event with Gov. Spitzer and other high-ranking Democrats earlier in the month at the Capitol. "The New York locals were incensed that so many of these outsider kids were sent in from Washington and they were trying to run the event and they couldn't even make a contribution to it."
Meanwhile, the source said many New York Democrats believe Clinton "isn't doing so well out there, that she may not have what it takes to become president.
"When you're out talking to real Democrats in the field, you hear them say, 'She has no pulse. Just polls.' Did you see how she voted on the Iraq resolution? . . . She waited to see how [Barack] Obama voted before she did. So calculated even on such a core issue," the source said.

Can anyone be surprised?
When Velociraptors Attack.....
"Can anyone be surprised?"
No. She has no principles whatever - no convictions, no heartfelt beliefs, no standards or inner strength; just a raging lust for more power.
Wonder who?
Nothing like a good cat fight to energize a campaign. /s
Bob Shrum, is that you hiding behind that keyboard?
I can’t imagine being in that boiling cauldron.
Nailed it perfectly. Well said.
BUMP
And the 'Shrumbeat'marches on its losing way!
The first thing the Leadership Institute tells you is not to run for office as a knight on a white horse. Well, we're in the business of changing people's basic mindset about the issues. We have to start from there. We HAVE to be knights on white horses to get through the prevailing stereotypes. Just one example.
I'm sure this division goes across party lines.
Also the youth is a problem. Inexperienced know-it-all, and everything that goes with that.
Example: At the convention, the volunteers were told they had to wear khaki pants. Five days in a row. For most women, that meant buying five new pairs of khaki pants, which they would never wear again, because there was no time to get them drycleaned. They at first said wear the same shirt all five days, but were forced to change that one after a deafening uproar. And all of that was because Washington tends to send us their clever young men.
For once I can empathize with the NY Clinton people.
Sissyboy Bill
One thing that got right is Hillary doesn’t have the stuff to be President.
Hillary is the worst candidate the Dems have had in my lifetime, and that includes George McGovern. So much baggage, so little charismatic appeal, and not one good idea for moving the country forward. Only God allowing a political plague to come on our nation, could get her into office. In other words, it would not bother me one iota if she got elected, because it would have to be God’s will alone for it to happen, and ultimately be a good thing. Hopefully it won’t take anything this catastrophic, but in this day and age nothing surprises me.
Until then, it's all about getting elected.
They always say she has a hardcore bubble of insiders and if you're not you're not. This fiasco may be a reflection of that insider-outsider dynamic. Great fun to read about though. May her headaches increase exponentially, like the ones she has inflicted on the country.
WRONG!
she wants to turn america into cuba, where EVERYONE has “free” health care and is poor.
that is her dream and that is her passion.
What gets you elected in NY will get you tarred and feathered on Texas.
It would be insane to let provincials run a national campaign. But hey, go for it Hilly.
