Richardson says he faced down Saddam and brought back hostages
You probably missed it, but MNJohnnie was incorrect saying the military had gone from 14 million to 1.4 million. It was from 3 million to 1.4 million. I corrected him then and am formally correcting you now!
The most the USA has ever had in uniform was 10 million during WWII.
The FairTax is a joke. There is no way that the government is able to collect over $2 trillion dollars from us without strong enforcement tactics-- it isn't possible. So those dreams of getting rid of the IRS are just that. They will just have a new name.
Without strong invasive compliance tactics, the amount of sales activity that would move "underground" and off the tax rolls with the FairTax would be huge, and that would necessitate large increases in the rate even higher than the 30% sales tax starting point.
And how any freedom loving Americans can think that it is a good thing to put every American man, woman and child on the monthly dole with a shiny government check each month is beyond me. Do you think having every American receive a check from the US Treasury on the first of every month would make them feel more or less dependent on government?
Do you think that the politicians would use the monthly check as a method to buy votes? Do you think they will stop being politicians because the FairTax is passed?
We need to keep the economy growing at a rate faster than spending growth using further tax cuts/incentives. And we need to curtail spending on non-Constitutional activities over time. That is the solution to our economic issues.
Richardson was elected to the Govenor’s Office in 2002.
Have you noticed ... Richardson talks like Diane Fienstein does
A Fair Tax will KILL the economy which is based on consumption. A FLAT TAX would be so much better where EVERYONE pays the same percentage, just like we all pay the same percentage when we buy something at the mall. A poor person pays the 6%...a rich person pays the 6%....it should be the same way for income tax. It’s gotten to where a HUGE portion of people pay NO income tax!!
Did you hear Fred and Juan say last night that Richardson would be the “perfect” VP for Hillary, Obama, or Edwards??
In fact, I think I heard Fred say he “will be the next VPOTUS”....EWWWWW
That's what I thought ... thanks for confirming
We know from historical example that pulling out troops would lead to disaster.
Truman's administration made a calamitous mistake in pulling out of South Korea in 1949 (it had been freed in 1945 and was still vulnerable, with much social unrest)..
Truman sent troops back to South Korea in 1950, after it had been invaded and occupied by Kim il-Sung's North Korean army.
30,000 Americans died in the remaining 30 months of Truman's presidency, after he sent them there to RE-WIN South Korea's freedom.
"Most everyone agrees" that if the US troops had remained in S. Korea in 1949 there would have been no Korean War.
NO one could do it better than you as well TX.
And on top of his pension, and do you really think Clinton ever actually pays for anything himself?
WOW, kabar, I didn’t realize that Richardson did that.
Thanks for letting us know...and you prove the point. The fact that it wasn’t a HUGE story, says a lot of what the dem candidates can get away with..
Richardson doesn’t upstage any of the top dnc candidates and he’ll go along with whatever they say and do like a puppy dog
“Ill be happy to give this retired Major a briefing in what we;re doing in Iraq and why were doing it if that would help.”
....and I would be more than happy to chip in with a Q&A session re HOW YOU GOT PROMOTED TO O-4 AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME AND NEVER GOT THE WORD FROM THE PEOPLE YOU WERE SUPPOSEDLY LEADING.
Only excuse I can think of is that he was in Intelligence.
The nuclear secrets were found right where they oughta be and don’t say not.
They were properly stored BEHIND the copy machine so stop yer bitchin’.
Hey, I’ll sure vote for this former Secretary of Energy who kept our nuclear secrets so safe. I’m impressed all to hell.
Send it to me in the form of a FReepmail and I'll shoot it over to him.
As I have said all this week the freedom of the world rests on the shoulders of our men and women in uniform if they cannot find away to win then no one els will.
Listening to Jeff Sessions on Face the Nation. Seems like a change in tone coming from him over how long we stay in Iraq. He even used the term, “I believe the President is coming around . . . “
You could be right. I don't know enough about it to say one way or the other. The current Tax Code is an abomination and I dearly wish something could be done about it. But really, the way the government goes at this is from a "this is how much money we want" rather than us being able to say "this is how much we are willing to give to government."
You are doing it again, too funny!
