I’m glad to see robotics replace HTML as the next big thing.
The Scribbler is a Tinker Toy compared to what else is on the market. I have a collection of processors that include the PIC, AVR, ARM, Propeller, Stamps in C, Basic and Java, and enough sensors to fill a treasure chest. It’s the most relaxing and challenging hobby I’ve ever had. I follow the industry closely and I believe it is going to explode sometime in the next few years. Invest while you can still afford it, is my advice.

The only way to learn computing in depth, particularly system design, is to chain oneself to a keyboard 10-12 hrs a day, type, type, type, and say f*** a lot.

As interest in computer science drops in the U.S... High tech has taken a beating 'cause students know that they can be outsourced to anyone with an H1B visa. Bill Gates, Motorola and HP have decimated our college ranks of geeks by sending the strong message that it ain't worth the effort to get a degree in high tech.

The only way to make software courses more relevant to today’s work environment is to teach pool maintenance, automotive repair, and hotel management. That way, our programmers can service the vast coffles of H-1Bs that management brought in on slave ships to replace them.

...it was written more like a comic book... Captain Cobol is my hero! Watch Captain Cobol and the Fortran Friends defeat the evil Master Control Program. Watch our heroes dodge annoying SOC7's and the dreaded SOC4, and defeat the MCP with the secret weapon, the //SYSIN DD DUMMY!
Okay, so maybe this is a comic from the Golden Age...
