O'Donnell Will Not Be Back on 'The View'
ABC NEWS ^ | staff

The saga is over.

Rosie O'Donnell will not be returning to "The View."

In a statement today, Brian Frons, the president of Disney-ABC's Daytime Television Group, said, "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."

Barbara Walters, the show's creator and co-executive producer, said, "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View.' I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

In her statement, O'Donnell said, "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

And on her Web site Thursday, O'Donnell wrote: "When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done."

O'Donnell announced at the end of April she was leaving "The View," and her last day was supposed to be June 20.

Any chance they will get rid of Barbara Walters next? Not that I would ever watch the show or really care.

I’ve never watched this show, just clips of Rosie making an ass out of herself over and over, but don’t tell me you’re not going miss THAT presence pound-wise.

“When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done.”

Similar to taking a dump.

What a coward. She was fine so long as she could spew her hate-filled rhetoric unchallenged, but as soon as Hasselbeck started to fight back, Rosie caved. Pathetic.

As much as I love Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she’s an intellectual lightweight, and not a good representative of the conservative cause. I’m glad she finally decided to stand up to Rosie and not take her disparaging remarks sitting down.

I don't watch the show, but I saw the clip of the exchange and you're right. But at least she had the courage to finally tell O'dumbell what she thought. Which is probably alot more than any of the others have done.

You couldn't find another moron pound for pound to top the fat ass Rosie.

I really think that any normal human knows she is an idiot. They keep her for wild TV.

Truth is, not even most of the moonbats want to associate with her!

The View is on at 10:00 am here in San Diego. Who is sitting home and watching TV that important time of the day??

Hopefully this is not what stay at home moms are watching. I can’t figure out WHO watches this program!

I don't watch the show either, just the clips that end up on Fox News. But the reason the others don't stand up to Rosie is because they are on her side. Joy Behar is just a slightly less out-spoken version of Rosie. Even Barbara, I believe, leans left of center. So poor Elisabeth is totally isolated on that show.

In a perfect world, all of us would be entitled to just so many foolish, malicious and totally asinine statements. When you’ve gone dangerously beyond your quota, as Rosie O’Donnell has, You would be deported, or put to sleep. Whichever was more convenient.
