KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - In a powerful demonstration of the way the Internet has opened up the mainstream media to intensive second-guessing, bloggers are charging that news outlets have ignored the rape and murder of a young Knoxville couple because of the racial implications of the story.

The two victims were white; the five defendants are black.

Exactly. The only difference is that the race is reversed. We had wall to wall coverage on that horrible crime.

I wonder who they mean by white supremacists. They had an example for conservatives (National Review), but who are the white supremacists they are referring to? Did they just throw that in or what?

They live in a world where THEY never see anyone except their cultural prototypes.

Their cultural prototypes is getting them murdered at an alarming rate. Somewhere along the line they need to say, ok, this isn't working out for us, we need to change. I believe that is what Cosby is what is trying to get across. Stop blaming the white man for the black mans problems.

Oh no, there are white supremacist sites that have latched onto this story which is why it makes it hard to come across 'good' articles.

In searching for articles about this story the majority talking about it is racist sites. The media dropped the ball on this story and finding articles to post on FR are few and far between.

True,but very few are getting the message.
Example.I spent the afternoon subbing at one our more notorious high schools yesterday.No violence or threats of any kind.Nobody got shot or overdosed.Yet the whole atmosphere at the school was anti-learning.Kids wandering in and out of rooms.Kids playing music on the computer,playing cards,wrestling each other.No attempt a serious work.
I did call security and they made an obligatory attempt to get the students in line since they completely ignored my instructions.After the officer left it was back to nonsense as usual.
Not all these kids are defiant or bad apples.Many of them are very nice and friendly.
Yet they haven’t the slightest CLUE of how the world outside the ghetto works and no one seems to want to wake them up to future shock.
And,BTW,Any black parent who can afford it will not send their kid to this place.So what happens is you have no middle class kids exerting their positive influence.Its like Tupac said:
In the ghetto its the blind leading the blind
A world of woe with no peace of mind

I mean, as soon as somebody had an electronic Internet megaphone, the opportunity to throw brickbats at the media just got amplified from the backyard-over-the-fence to an e-mail or a blog.

That is very sad and troubling because they'll never make it in the real world. The adults in their lives are failing them if they're not trying to make them aware how the world really is outside their world.

You are to be commended for being a teacher in this day and age where good teachers are hard to come by.

Not all these kids are defiant or bad apples.Many of them are very nice and friendly.

Maybe some of them will realize on their own what is facing them on the outside and adjust to it. There has to be hope.
