BAGHDAD (AFP) - Radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr may end a four month absence from the Iraqi public scene by giving the Friday sermon at his mosque in Kufa, depending on the security situation, supporters said."We are looking into whether or not his eminence Moqtada al-Sadr will make his appearance in Kufa, depending on the seriousness of some threats to his security," said Abdel Mahdi al-Muteiri, an official in his Baghdad office.
In Najaf itself, members of Sadr's organisation confirmed that preparations were underway for him to lead prayers in nearby Kufa, but his actual appearance would depend on the situation on the ground.
"I can tell you there are ongoing preparations for him to lead the prayers," said an official, who asked not to be named.

Snipers to Kufa! Quick! Time's a wasting!
Just heard that noise.
I really wish those people would find something better to do than going around blowing things up.
I’ll check the newswires. Stay safe!
I suggest two. Make the rubble bounce.
Tell him to go out for a pass.
Touchdown!
A drone....get a damned drone up for the occasion
“I suggest two. Make the rubble bounce.”
Can we PLEASE send a third to thoroughly salt the ground afterwards? NBo Explosive, just a symbolic load of salt.
GPS coords please...
I frequently find out the sources of explosions on FR before hearing about them from people here on the ground. LOL
At the very least.
I’d suggest a medium yield Nuke which would take out so very many of his followers too.
Regardless he will again be left untouched. Gotta wonder why?
We are fighting a political war, not a war to win and that is B.S.
Can you say Viet-Nam?
His Eminence, Bwahahahahaha.
I have seen better looking drifters sleeping in the park.
If WE were serious.........His eminence, Would have already had his fat ass splattered all over a wall inside one of these mosque.
His continued breathing is a monument to our lack of seriousness.
Exactly.
Americans will support a war whose aims are explained and defended and which is fought in a manner that will bring victory.
Bush, IMHO, is failing on all three counts and the strategic consequences will be catastrophic if this Bravo Sierra is not turned around.
