Will Media Report Al Qaeda Torture Manual With Same Zeal as Abu Ghraib ?
Newsbusters ^ | 05/24/07 | Noel Sheppard

In early 2004, when the first revelations about prisoners being tortured by American soldiers at the Abu Ghraib facility in Iraq appeared, the media covered the story on almost a daily basis for months.

With that as a pretext, the website The Smoking Gun has obtained graphic sketches of various torture techniques being employed by al Qaeda, as well as pictures of victims that have undergone such treatment.

You have to understand first that your typical "newsie" thinks torture consists of a too-tight fit from those ladies panties on his head.

Anything else and they just fritz out.

Are you equating US with Al Qaeda? The logic of your question does. We’re supposed to be better.

No, they will not but maybe it should be wall papered on Sean Penn’s, Michael Moore’s, Rosie’s and Ron Paul’s bathroom walls. The next time, they feel like passing their crap, they will have a good opportunity to see what our enemies would do to them if given the chance.

The MSM turns my stomach and turns my lib sister's stomach, too.

I'm way beyond glad that I stopped my subscriptions to Newsday and the NY Times a few years back.

At first, after stopping home delivery, I bought those papers in the grocery store, when I wanted to read them. That helped me reduce my dependency on them.

I'd guess that I've bought those papers 2X in the last 2+ years.

Coincidentally, my lib sister pays very little attention to the news anymore, because it upsets her (she's anti-war and a member of the ACLU).

The MSM may be hastening their decline by upsetting their tenderhearted lib readers, as well as annoying the conservatives.

They really should think about giving us a few optimistic stories.

Are you equating US with Al Qaeda?

The point is that America's enemies—that is to say, the alphabet media and the Euros—do exactly that. That was exactly their point, often explicitly stated, in the endless publication of the Abba-Dabba-Doo pictures: "It's ironic [magic liberal word] that America condemned Saddam for torture, when they've been doing the same thing."

I couldn't care less about dog-leashes, underwear on the head, or for that matter, water-boarding. Meanwhile, Saddam was justly hanged for gassing Kurds and putting human beings into paper shredders at Abu Ghraib—when it was an actual torture prison.

We’re supposed to be better.

According to folks who want to tie our hands, we're supposed to better than perfect (from their point of view).

we are better. Are you comparing putting underwear on someone’s head with mutilation? Again, for emphasis, we are better.

The MSM will report about it.

They wil claim that it was a “plant” made by the administration and the evil US imperialist terrorists.

At least, that is what Rosie will say.

“Will Media Report Al Qaeda Torture Manual With Same Zeal as Abu Ghraib ?”

I doubt it.
But I don’t think it will matter if it was headline news.
Liberals and the MSM will forgive Al-Queda just about anything,
even killing dogs to test poisons.

Honestly, when the film clip of Al-Queda doing their “animal testing”
appeared, I thought “Now, even the ACLU will demand the heads of
every Al-Queda member on a platter”.
I totally underestimated the capacity of The Left to forgive America’s
enemies of any act, no matter how depraved.
They don’t care if Al-Queda kills or tortures the most innocent
human or animal.

Are you comparing putting underwear on someone’s head with mutilation?

Why are you asking this question? It is self-evident that is exactly what FL is doing. No further confirmation is needed.

We know the answer to that one. There’s a complete asymmetry about the reporting of this war. Every American mistake or crime is magnified 100 times; every terrorist crime is basically ignored. Oh, they are usually reported, but they generate no outrage or condemnation - none - from either the mainstream American press or the world press. Just this week, the when they murdered the captured soldier, a basic violation of the rules of war. Not a peep from the press condemning that. They can boobytrap dead bodies, shoot medical responders aiding victims, use mosques as munitions dumps, plant military hardware in civilian areas, wear the uniforms of the Iraqi army, deliberately target civilians with suicide bombers - NONE of it generates outrage. It’s all directed at Bush.

Whydoes your lib sister not like the newspaper? Does she think it’s too conservative?

Of course I’m not comparing putting underwear with mutilation. I’m asking why the OP wants the media to. Abu Grahib was a sad episode, the perpetrators have been punished, we should all move past it. Your retort, as your world-view seems to be, is very simple minded.
