(Washington, D.C.) - Presidential candidate Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) responded today to Senator John Edwardss comments that the War on Terror is nothing more than a "bumper sticker slogan."
"If Senator Edwards is saying that the war on terror doesnt exist, I would agree", Congressman Tancredo said. "Terror is a tactic used by the enemy with which we are at war. The enemy is radical Islam, and if he does not believe that, then he is delusional. America cant afford a president that is an ostrich, with his head in the sand on this issue."
Edwards, in a speech to the Council of Foreign Relations in New York said, "It is now clear that George Bush's misnamed 'War on Terror' has backfired and is now part of the problem. The War on Terror is a slogan designed only for politics, not a strategy to make America safe. It's a bumper sticker, not a plan."
Tancredo understands the fight we're in!
On Federal Spending:
The federal government is in debt because it spends too much, not because it taxes people too little. Government spending is classified as either discretionary or mandatory. Discretionary spending includes funds for things like the military and is explicitly set by Congress on an annual basis. But the major culprit in ballooning budgets is mandatory spending for entitlement programs like medicare, expenditures which are determined by the number of beneficiaries. The only way to control the budget is to reform the entitlement programs that mandatory spending funds. Those decisions on how to allocate resources are as economically necessary as they are politically and ethically difficult.

FREEPMAIL ME TO BE ADDED TO THIS TANCREDO 08 PING LIST
I’m glad to see this side of Tancredo and wish he had shown it earlier.
Go Tancredo
the problem with the head-in-sand approach is that it leaves one’s rear end so exposed!
And “Two Americas” is not bumper sticker material?
It's not a lack of Tancredo showing it. For years he's been the go-to guy on illegal immigration for Fox and MSNBC. Tancredo's got a fantastic voting record - the most conservative of all of the candidates, IMO.
He's a solid conservative and immigration is not the only issue where his voice needs to be heard.
Edwards feeling pretty —The only political ad that the GOP needs if this twerp gets nominated:

LOL! And Tancredo came along and kicked it!
No. There are two Americas and that's a fact we can't get away from. There's the real America and the one that exists in John Edward's mind.
I know he’s always been a good solid conservative but you’re right about the media paying selective attention to him.
I don’t think Edwards has a problem with that.

For those of you having difficulty getting thru to your senator, here is the 800 # paid for by the Mexican Amnesty Activists:
800-882-2005
This will get you directly to your senator unlike the #’s available to the US Citizen.
Press 1 when you hear a Spanish message, then Press 1 again to be transferred to your senior senator’s office
OR
Press 2 when you hear a Spanish message, and you’ll be transferred to your junior senator’s office.
You get through immediately and the call is paid for by the enemy!
Like Jimmy Carter. Saying his head was in the sand was putting it politely.
Good for Tancredo. Hucklebee was also great, calling the statement idiotic. Rs need to pound hard on this one. I don’t want this idiot any where near the WH. He’s insane as Gore.
I don't necessarily hold it against them. It makes their job easier if they've got a filing cabinet and under "Illegal Immigration" they've got Tancredo's contact information.
Only now that he's on a national stage does he need to broaden the scope of his appeal, and I think he's done that well (particularly in the Fox debate).
Does every thread have to be about illegal immigration?!
;-)
“War on Terror” is really a euphemism for “War on Islamofascism”.
