The trouble in Jena started with the nooses. Then it rumbled along the town's racial fault lines. Finally, it exploded into months of violence between blacks and whites.
Now the 3,000 residents of this small lumber and oil town deep in the heart of central Louisiana are confronting Old South racial demons many thought had long ago been put to rest.

“Now the 3,000 residents of this small lumber and oil town deep in the heart of central Louisiana are confronting Old South racial demons many thought had long ago been put to rest.”
This is the most laughable line in teh article.
How about Robert Bailey, 17, who was charged with attempted murder? Or would you call that “racist”?
I hope it was the article that was "disturbing" more than the thread. I believe that the article was written by a leftist and was intended to create a false, or at least greatly exaggerated image of white-on-black racism out of an incident that was really, at its heart, an all-too-common tale of black thuggery directed in this instance at whites and motivated largely by black-on-white racism.
Fortunately I know the American Public is not like this at all,and you get psychotic barmpots in every society-but-these reports only give more ammo to the America-hating lefties over here, who are delighted whenever things like this crop up.God forbid Im not suggesting that stuff like this should be swept under the carpet, but some of you might want to think about what you type in.
The article was created by leftists for the purpose of providing ammunition to anti-American leftists everywhere. It is the American (and the FR) way to expose such leftist treachery to the light of truth and therefore I am glad the article was posted here. What is disturbing to me is the number of FReepers who think they are conservatives but as soon as someone tells a tale of white-on-black racism (particularly if said tale is set in the South) they let their bigotry and sanctimony overwhelm their reason and they unwittingly jump on the leftist bandwagon. They think they are going to get a cookie for their enlightenment and magnanimity but what they are really going to get is socialism, poverty, tyranny, and their faces kicked in and their sisters and daughters raped by anti-white racist thugs.
The point I am trying to make is that I was warned (by both Yanks and Limies) that anywhere immediately south of Washington was full of both white Nazis and black Panthers. So I speak as I find.
The truth is there are almost no white Nazis or KKK types in America. Their numbers are greatly exaggerated by the America-haters. There are also very few actual Black Panthers, that is militant blacks of any real political orientation or organization. What there are, however, are large numbers of blacks who hate white people and are proficient and remorseless thugs, just as there are in the U.K. only we have more of them. Everyone knows this to be true although there is a concerted effort by leftists and their cowed enablers (see above) to mislead the nation and the world on this subject. The excerpted and linked article above, and unfortunately too many of the FReeper replies thereto, are typical examples of this.
Says who? Mightn't you be getting suckered here?
In my opinion you can only eliminate racism by telling the truth about it and by holding everyone to the same standard.
How do you mean?
Sorry, I don’t do on/off sarcasm tags. I believe it should be self-evident.
You don't write as well as you think you do.
LOL! I was going to say the same thing about your comprehension, but I was trying to be nice.
Oh well . . .
I agree that the article uses biased and loaded words, which certainly calls into question the reporter's account. Given that it would be reasonable to conclude that we don't have all the facts and so we shouldn't be too quick to jump to conclusions.
All that said, I'd love to know how you conclude that this is "an all-too-common tale of black thuggery...motivated largely by black-on-white racism". It seems rather hypocritical to blast others for coming to conclusions based upon questionable reporting only to reach your own conclusions based upon nothing but speculation.
If the nooses hadn’t appeared, the media would not be using the word “racism”.
Putting up a noose is not at all in the same category as assaulting people.
Symbolism over substance.
The basic facts of the attempted muder case are fairly clear. Six black guys jumped one white guy while at school. They knocked him unconscious and then kicked him as he lay defenseless, sending him to the hospital. The assailants are facing attempted murder charges for these acts. I based my observations on these facts, not as you claim on "nothing but speculation".
Now would be a good time for you to pause and ask yourself whether you are being a complete and utter retard and if so, why.
Interesting that you've suddenly shifted gears and are now claiming to speak only about the latest incident in a long chain of events. I'm sure that this shift is entirely coincidental, and has nothing whatsoever to do with your hypocrisy being pointed out for all to see.
So let's review. The article tells of six "incidents": nooses hung on a tree, a series of fights, an arson fire, a white youth beating up a black student, a white man pulling a shotgun on three black students, six black students beating a white student, and a white student bringing a rifle to school.
You've run all over this thread telling people they cannot jump to conclusions because the writer is biased. That may very well be true. Yet you then proceed to seize on one of the six incidents and determine that the entire issue is about "black thuggery".
I initially said it looked to be hypocrisy. After further examination I'll admit that it may also just be very poor logic on your part. Either way, it doesn't reflect well on you.
Now would be a good time for you to pause and ask yourself whether you are being a complete and utter retard and if so, why.
*shrug*
And while I'm doing that, I'd strongly suggest you consider whether acting the part of a pompous and arrogant windbag (and thus revealing a basic character defect) is your best course of action.
Have no fear “Justice Brothers” (Sharpton & Jackson) will get to the bottom of this and will stir up more trouble.
You are stupid and deranged and are not understanding what is going on here. I have not shifted gears at all. Look at the title of the original article. Look at what I wrote in my reply to which you first responded. Both say "incident". Singular. This story is all about the one beatdown for which the assailants are facing serious charges. The "series of events" was created by racists and leftists to obfuscate and excuse the thuggery at the core of this central event. You were duped, pal, plain and simple.
You described one of the events in this supposed “series of events” as “a white man pulling a shotgun on three black students”. Yet the linked article states quite plainly “the white man who pulled the shotgun at the convenience store wasn’t charged with any crime at all. But the three black youths in that incident were arrested and accused of aggravated battery and theft...” Did you deliberately mischaracterize this event because you are a liar and a racist, or are you simply stupid and unable to read correctly?
More ad hominems? I think you're spending too much time out there in SF. Perhaps the liberals are assimilating you; certainly you've adopted their debating style. Surely you can do better than this - or am I giving you too much credit?
Look at the title of the original article.
Racial incident at school overwhelms Louisiana town
This story is all about the one beatdown for which the assailants are facing serious charges.
The article begins with "The trouble in Jena started with the nooses. Then it rumbled along the town's racial fault lines. Finally, it exploded into months of violence between blacks and whites." What it is "all about" is a series of events divided along racial lines. I'm sorry your reading comprehension is not up to par, but perhaps if you re-read the article several times you will come to realize that what I say is the (quite obvious) truth. If it helps you can even move your lips as you read, although in your case I suspect that's standard operating procedure.
The "series of events" was created by racists and leftists to obfuscate and excuse the thuggery at the core of this central event.
Your absolute certainty about that is what's laughable. A reasonable person might say that we don't have all the facts and so should be careful about the conclusions we draw. A raving lunatic spews venom and insists that he doesn't need any damn facts to know exactly what happened here.
You might stop and consider into which camp you fall. If you have any reasoning ability you might even come to the right conclusion. But I won't hold my breath.
Yes we have this problem too on a much snaller scale.
However, more hassle is caused by our Pakistani moslem friends, but there are a lot of black brits (mainly youngsters)who seem to have a problem if you are in their main street, esp at night.I’ve seen it myself, walking around
Inner London
Brixton ,Hackney
Birmingham
Aston, Handsworth
Manchester
Moss Side
Liverpool
Toxteth
Leeds
Chapeltown
The previous generations havebeen ok by and large, but the young kids nowadays have been told repeatedly by Socialist politicians that mainstream British Society is “Institutionally Racist”,another good one “Legacy of Slavery” etc;these kids are effectively told that they can say and do what they like but if a white person questions this, well,he doesn’t get prosecuted but he will never get a job in Public life.Blacklisted mate-oh no thats racist.
I’m not editorializing either way about the story. I know I don’t have the facts. I’d never accuse Southerners of being more racist than any other group, including Northerners and Blacks.
You think they lied about these incidents occurring or about who was likely at fault? In the first instance there is no reason for me to be depressed, but in the second there still is. My statement was not meant to be an endorsement of the style of the article, which appeared to have some bias. Merely an observation that obviously something sad happened in Jena.
