“Theyve been together for 16 years.”
Lets clarify this matter:
Mary Cheney and Heather Poe are just two people who happen to live together, according to the Virginia laws which do not recognize anything about their relationship.
Mary Cheney, a single lesbian, chose to use artificial insemination to become pregnant in Virginia.
You say they have been together for 16 years.
Mary Cheney is 37. I doubt that Mary and Heather Poe have been living together for 16 years. They may have started their lesbian relationship 16 years ago (when Mary was 21 and Heather was 30), but that doesnt mean they have been together for 16 years.
When one says two people have been together for x number of years, you are saying they have been exclusive and not changed partners.
So, Mary Cheney was 21 years old when she was introduced to lesbianism by a 30-year old Heather Poe. I find it very difficult to believe that Mary didn’t experiment and have relationships with others during the 16 years since her first lesbian experience.
That’s one difference between hetro and homo relationships. Hetros usually count their time together based loosely around their marriage date.
Lesbians and homos should not be able to counting their time “together” from when they first “did” each other.
Your saying they’ve been together since Mary was 21 — the same old liberal lies and decent — trying to be something they are not.
It is quite likely she has been in an exclusive relationship since she was about 21. Based on her book I would think they have been living together for about 12 - 14 years.
I was 22 when I got married and my husband and I introduced each other to heterosexuality, to use your turn of phrase. We've been married 5 years and I've not once experimented or had relationships with others. I find it rather shocking that you consider such fidelity abnormal.
