McCain Praises Sen. Graham, Defends Immigration Bill

Republican presidential candidate John McCain came to the defense of one of his biggest allies Wednesday over the pending immigration vote in the U.S. Senate.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has come under fire in the last week for his defense of an immigration compromise that provides amnesty for illegal aliens. It reached a peak when he was booed during the state Republican convention Saturday in Columbia. “I always think it is unfair when I hear Lindsey Graham is criticized,” McCain, R-Ariz., said during a conference call Wednesday.

Graham has been an ardent campaigner for McCain in South Carolina – appearing for his fellow senator at debates and straw polls in the last few months. Graham also supported McCain in 2000.

In return, McCain said he was proud of Graham Wednesday. However, McCain said he can understand why many Republicans and other citizens are skeptical about the proposed plan because past bills have not done what was promised. “We have to show them this is a workable, doable proposal,” McCain said.

Let me further add, if, GOD FORBID, I would EVER have to visit the Middle East, Near East or Far East, even Europe, I’d be making sure I KNEW what the customs were. I’d be digging out my headscarves, or get fitted (if that’s possible) for a burka, but I wouldn’t have the nerve to show up and tell them about my culture, my opinions or my religious beliefs and expect them to ACCOMMODATE ME. I would be a guest and, therefore, a respectful one.

McCain don’t take up for nobody but McCain. He is self-centered and has no loyalty to anyone.

And anyone who supports any form of amnesty for lawbreakers is wrong.

Tell it Abe.

I bet McCain didn’t even know he would be retiring to Mexico.
I think he does now.

See McCain’s bumbling meltdown Mitt’s lucky break

I think Romney is just used as a local straw man against McCain, seeing as how Howie writes for the Boston Herald.

The best paragraph, imho:
So McCain finds himself in the position of having voted against tax cuts for citizens, but endorsing the payment of no taxes by criminals who don’t even belong in this country. Granted, Bush wanted that provision, but Bush couldn’t carry Crawford today.

I thank him for his service to our country and if I could erase his years as a POW I would. He has sacrificed for our freedoms but...somehow along the way he has changed.
