"Myth # 1. There is a War. War was never declared."

And neither was Vietnam a war because it 'wasn't declared!!? I think anyone who has been there and come back to talk about it would disagree with you. I looked up the definition of "war" and the dictionary made no reference to congress having to bestow its approval upon a violent scenario before it can be called a war.

There is a war going on out here, CJ, and while there was no formal December 7, 1941-style declaration, there WAS

SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.

(a) AUTHORIZATION. The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to

(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and

(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq.

We haven't won until the enemy admits it. We aren't done.

We can't muster up support for what we have on our plate now. Invading Iran, while satisfying to fantasize about, is probably beyond our capabilities right now.

So according to that wonderful resolution, we are fighting a UN war. That in its self is reason to barf.

The Iraq enemy is dead, Saddam is gone, he’s party is dead, his sons are dead. They have held free elections, The Iraq war is over. Iran and others are sending weapons and people in to fight us. Until we move into and kill the source, these rodents will continue to sting us. We need to keep moving.

Iran and Iraq fought each other to a stalemate over eight years. We took Iraq in mere weeks. It’s bs to say we can’t take Iran in the same time.

OK, General Patton, what are you going to take Iran with?

Once you take Iran, what are you going to do with it?

We have about 120,000 troops in Iraq we could move them in. We take the capital and get rid of the government. I don’t want to do anything with Iran, except lay it to waste. Then we march into Afghanistan with our whole number of troops and find Bin Laden.

I met Jim Jones once before he moved south of the border (some gathering of community “leaders”). I did not feel he was religious at all—he seemed more con-man than religious. This might not have been the best example for him to use.

Yes, this went around here about a week ago.

I agree with everything in that presentation.

I'm sure it will be played on CNN, MSNBC, etc. soon, right? ;-)

It is very interesting that you met the man. I read Tim Reiterman’s book RAVEN. He did lots of good research but left out most of Jones’ recorded last words. I guess it was just too damaging to socialism for the Bay area types.

Other myths......it is called Propaganda.

1.Your President is lying to you.
2.This war is illegal.
3.You cannot win the war.
4.You have lost this war.

Yeah know, when I read that list of yours, I first thought what kind of evil would propagate such vile things about this great country... and then I quickly realized that it is Americans propagating that, and even worse, it's being propagated by a party that wants into Presidential power. Good God! Please "macho-conservatives", do not stay home on election 2008. There is no lesson to be taught to anyone by letting a Democrat become Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. NONE!

Jim Jones was NOT a religious fanatic. Read the transcripts of his last recorded harangues as his people are drinking the Kool Aid. He begs them to die like good Socialists and to their screams remarks that such terror is not the way for communists to die.

A strong argument can be made that Socialism is a religion for people who don't believe in God.
