If we could truly stop illegal immigration and send the illegals home, it would cause severe problems south of the border, especially in Mexico. This would also be a good thing. You might have noticed that immigrants tend to be on the dark side. That corresponds to why there are few opportunities for them at home...amongst other things, of course.
I think it’s time to plug that safety valve because quite frankly I’m not going to be threatened into keeping the border open so mexican marxists can come here.

If people want to come here, and become citizens, fine. But they can damn well wait in line like everyone else. If they just want to come here to work and send money back home, and reject becoming citizens, then they can stay the hell out.

But one thing we may see (and the one issue that I think most scares politicos) is inflation...we won't have slave labor keeping the labor market down, which will lead to wage inflation, and then higher prices to follow. I'm willing to do it to have an honest economy rather than one propped up by lawbreaking, but it will likely have some impact on us at home.
Well, we can leave them in place and lose the west, as well as assuring the Democrats never lose another election. In Montana we have less than 1 million people. Imagine what even 250,000 illegals would do to the state. Screw Mexico!
The Mexicans can threaten me with flea-bag hostels all they want, I am not visiting their country, let alone staying in any "USA hostel" they may institute.
So the same Mexicans, who if granted Amnesty will become Reagan Republicans, would become Marxists in Mexico - if not allowed to invade the US? Better Mexico become socialist than the US!
We need to change our attitude about illegal immigration to one of rule of law, NOT 'respect for lawbreakers'.
We don't need to deport 10 million in one year. Deporting without secured borders would make no sense anyway.
1. Secure the border (walls/fences/surveillance)
2. Impose large fines on employers of illegals.
3. Gradually ramp up deportation.
4. Deduct the cost of deportation from our foreign aid to Mexico.
5. Continue deportation until most illegals are gone.
Remember, the cost of this bill is at least $2.5 trillion, we could probably secure the border and deport all illegals for a similar amount AND uphold the principle of rule-of-law.
Well hell's bells, we can't stop murder either, so lets legalize that too.
I live in NE Ohio. Every time I leave my house for the store, gas station, park, etc.... no matter where I go I am every single time surprised at the numbers of Latinos ( I assume Mexican ) who I see absolutely everywhere and who do not speak English and who will not look me in the eye. Many are continually pedestrians on every street in this town and in places where there are no other pedestrians. I mean that this is a daily occurrence for me in the last year and a half and so noticeable that I remark upon it every time I am anywhere in town. I live in a small town and I cannot comprehend what they are doing to support themselves here. My town does not look like my town anymore.
Mexico would finally be forced to address it’s problems once the ability to ship it’s problems North was taken away.
Once the Wall is in place any problems in Mexico will impact us far less. Right now upheaval in Mexico would mean an immediate tidal wave of refugees in the many millions.
Well, for starters we don’t need to be Mexico’s “social safety valve”. I think Mexicans should work on improving their own country, that should be their patriotic ambition. I’m not particularly worried about a hostel(sic) Mexican government either.
Mexico is not a poor country. Their per capita income is higher than the global average ($10,000). Their GDP is over a trillion dollars. A quarter of their population lives outside of their borders and sends money back home. Their southern border is tightly patrolled to prevent illegals from crossing over to get higher paying Mexican jobs (from Nicaragua and Honduras, primarily).
They are simply in a corrupt system, where a handful of families control the vast majority of the wealth. One nice little revolution, and they can become a viable nation.
Why should the sovereignty of the US be compromised by fears of the mismanagement and corruption of one third world country, even if that country shares a border with the US?
Are we not strong enough to resist and eradicate such eminent threats?
Since a hostel is a place for sojourners to lodge temporarily, doesn't Mexico already have a "hostel government"? After all, for many Mexican workers, their country seems to be a temporary place to lodge on their journey to the US.
“Mexicans would surely cause much trouble for the Mexican government”..........isn’t that what people are supposed to do when they realize they have a corrupt government, rather than cut and run and give up their country? If they do this to their own country, what are they going to do here when things get tough?
